Unpolarized and polarized elementary kaon electroproduction cross sections measured at MAMI

Present and future research into the electroproduction of kaons plays an im- portant role at Mainz Microtron MAMI. With the Kaos spectrometer employed for kaon detection in the multi-spectrometer facility, cross section measurements of the exclusive p(e;e 0 K + ); 0 reactions at low momentum transfers have been performed. Isobar and Regge-plus-resonance models were compared with the data. These measurements have clearly discriminated between e ective Lagrangian models for photo- and electroproduc- tion of strangeness. Prediction of the out-of-plane response of infilled frames under seismic loads by a new fiber-section macro-model

This chapter suggests that an extension of the capability of the traditional inplane macro-models to capture the simultaneous in-plane and Out-Of-Plane (OOP) response of infills. A new simplified macro-model for the assessment of both in plane and out-of-plane responses of infilled frames was developed and validated. The possibility to simulate the arching action is achieved by using distributed plasticity fiber-section elements, able to directly account for the coupling between axial load and bending moment. HP-Xe to go: Storage and Transportation of Hyperpolarized 129-Xe

Abstract Recently the spin–lattice relaxation time T 1 of hyperpolarized (HP)- 129 Xe was significantly improved by using uncoated and Rb-free storage vessels of GE180 glass. For these cells, a simple procedure was established to obtain reproducible wall relaxation times of about 18 h. Then the limiting relaxation mechanism in pure Xe is due to the coupling between the nuclear spins and the angular momentum of the Xe–Xe van-der-Waals-molecules. This mechanism can be significantly reduced by using different buffer gases of which CO 2 was discovered to be the most efficient so far. The rate coefficients for capture of charged particles by spherical top molecules, which by isotopic substitution become symmetric top molecules with small dipole moment, are expressed analytically for the two limiting cases of weak coupling of the molecular angular momentum to the collision axis (dominating Coriolis interaction, the fly-wheel [FW] approximation) and strong coupling (negligible Coriolis interaction, the adiabatic channel [AC] approximation). Production of a tensor glueball in the reaction γγ → G2π0 at large momentum transfer

Abstract We study the production of a tensor glueball in the reaction γ γ → G 2 π 0 . We compute the cross section at higher momentum transfer using the collinear factorisation approach. We find that for a value of the tensor gluon coupling of f g T ∼ 100 MeV, the cross section can be measured in the near future by the Belle II experiment.
Beam matching with space charge in energy recovery linacs

Abstract Matching with space charge of an Energy-Recovery Linac (ERL) arc into the subsequent RF structure is essential to preserve beam quality. We show how to match beam envelopes and dispersion along the bends and recirculation arcs of an ERL, including space charge forces, in order to adjust the beam to the parameters of the subsequent RF structure. For a qualitative analysis, we show that one can use a beam matrix approach together with the smooth focusing approximation but with longitudinal–transverse coupling. Axionlike Particles, Lepton-Flavor Violation, and a New Explanation of aμ and ae

Axionlike particles (ALPs) with lepton-flavor-violating couplings can be probed in exotic muon and tau decays. The sensitivity of different experiments depends strongly on the ALP mass and its couplings to leptons and photons. For ALPs that can be resonantly produced, the sensitivity of three-body decays such as μ→3e and τ→3μ exceeds by many orders of magnitude that of radiative decays like μ→eγ and τ→μγ. Searches for these two types of processes are therefore highly complementary. We discuss experimental constraints on ALPs with a single dominant lepton-flavor-violating coupling. Experimental constraints on the coupling of the Higgs boson to electrons

In the standard model (SM), the coupling of the Higgs boson to electrons is real and very small, proportional to the electron mass. New physics could significantly modify both real and imaginary parts of this coupling. We discuss experiments which are sensitive to the Higgs-electron coupling and derive the current bounds on new physics contributing to this coupling. The strongest constraint follows from the ACME bound on the electron electric dipole moment (EDM). We calculate the full analytic two-loop result for the electron EDM and show that it bounds the imaginary part of the Higgs-electron coupling to be less than 1.7 x 10^-2 times the SM electron Yukawa coupling. Fatigue Crack Growth for Different Ratios of Bending to Torsion in AlCu4Mg1

The paper contains the fatigue crack growth test results obtained under proportional bending with torsion in AlCu4Mg1 aluminium alloy [1]. Specimens with rectangular cross sections and dimensions: length l = 90 mm, height w = 10 mm and thickness g = 8 mm were tested [2]. Each specimen had an external unilateral notch with depth 2 mm and radius ρ = 0.2 mm. The tests were performed under the stress ratio R = −1. The notches in the specimens were cut with a milling cutter and their surfaces were polished after grinding.
