Electromagnetic moments of scandium isotopes and $N=28$ isotones in the distinctive $0f_{7/2}$ orbit

2022

The electric quadrupole moment of $^{49}$Sc was measured by collinear laser spectroscopy at CERN-ISOLDE to be $Q_{\rm s}=-0.159(8)$ $e$b, and a nearly tenfold improvement in precision was reached for the electromagnetic moments of $^{47,49}$Sc. The single-particle behavior and nucleon-nucleon correlations are investigated with the electromagnetic moments of $Z=21$ isotopes and $N=28$ isotones as valence neutrons and protons fill the distinctive $0f_{7/2}$ orbit, respectively, located between magic numbers, 20 and 28. The experimental data are interpreted with shell-model calculations using an effective interaction, and ab-initio valence-space in-medium similarity renormalization group calcu…

Evidence for Increased neutron and proton excitations between 51−63 Mn

2015

The hyperfine structures of the odd-even 51−63Mnatoms (N=26 −38) were measured using bunched beam collinear laser spectroscopy at ISOLDE, CERN. The extracted spins and magnetic dipole moments have been compared to large-scale shell-model calculations using different model spaces and effective interactions. In the case of 61,63Mn, the results show the increasing importance of neutron excitations across the N=40subshell closure, and of proton excitations across the Z=28shell gap. These measurements provide the first direct proof that proton and neutron excitations across shell gaps are playing an important role in the ground state wave functions of the neutron-rich Mn isotopes. publisher: Els…

Alpha-decay energies of superheavy nuclei for the Fayans functional

2016

Alpha-decay energies for several chains of super-heavy nuclei are calculated within the self-consistent mean-field approach by using the Fayans functional FaNDF$^0$. They are compared to the experimental data and predictions of two Skyrme functionals, SLy4 and SkM*, and of the macro-micro method as well. The corresponding lifetimes are calculated with the use of the semi-phenomenological formulas by Parkhomenko and Sobiczewski and by Royer and Zhang.

Properties of nuclei in the nobelium region studied within the covariant, Skyrme, and Gogny energy density functionals

2015

We calculate properties of the ground and excited states of nuclei in the nobelium region for proton and neutron numbers of 92 <= Z <= 104 and 144 <= N <= 156, respectively. We use three different energy-density-functional (EDF) approaches, based on covariant, Skyrme, and Gogny functionals, each within two different parameter sets. A comparative analysis of the results obtained for odd-even mass staggerings, quasiparticle spectra, and moments of inertia allows us to identify single-particle and shell effects that are characteristic to these different models and to illustrate possible systematic uncertainties related to using the EDF modelling

Spins, Electromagnetic Moments, and Isomers of $^{107-129}Cd$

2013

The neutron-rich isotopes of cadmium up to the N=82 shell closure have been investigated by high-resolution laser spectroscopy. Deep-UV excitation at 214.5 nm and radioactive-beam bunching provided the required experimental sensitivity. Long-lived isomers are observed in 127Cd and 129Cd for the first time. One essential feature of the spherical shell model is unambiguously confirmed by a linear increase of the 11/2- quadrupole moments. Remarkably, this mechanism is found to act well beyond the h11/2 shell. The neutron-rich isotopes of cadmium up to the N=82 shell closure have been investigated by high-resolution laser spectroscopy. g factors of $^{31,32,33}$Al: Indication for intruder configurations in the $^{33}$Al ground state

2006

Abstract The g factors of 31,32,33 Al have been measured using the β -nuclear magnetic resonance ( β -NMR) technique on spin-polarized beams produced in the fragmentation of a 36 S (77.5 MeV/u) beam on a 9 Be target. Nearly pure beams of Al ( Z = 13 ) isotopes were selected with the high-resolution fragment separator LISE at GANIL. An asymmetry as high as 6% has been observed in the β -NMR curve for 32 Al implanted in a Si single crystal. The magnetic moment of the N = 20 nucleus 33 Al is obtained for the first time: μ ( Al 33 , I π = 5 / 2 + ) = 4.088 ( 5 ) μ N , while those of 31,32 Al are obtained with improved accuracy: μ ( Al 31 , I π = 5 / 2 + ) = 3.830 ( 5 ) μ N and μ ( Al 32 , I π =…

Moment of dialogic leadership in Finnish IT organisation

2020

Purpose The purpose of this study is to describe the construction of leadership through authentic dialogues at work and leaders’ actions as contributors to dialogic leadership. Design/methodology/approach The authors collected the data by recording the organisation’s meetings and discussions and used content analysis of dialogic leadership and typifying of critical moments as analytical methods. Findings On the basis of the findings, this paper suggests that dialogic leadership begins with a startup critical moment and progresses through the different positions by manager and employees through democratic interaction. Individual and collective level learning of participants and the formatio…

Study of doubly strange systems using stored antiprotons

2016

Bound nuclear systems with two units of strangeness are still poorly known despite their importance for many strong interaction phenomena. Stored antiprotons beams in the GeV range represent an unparalleled factory for various hyperon-antihyperon pairs. Their outstanding large production probability in antiproton collisions will open the floodgates for a series of new studies of systems which contain two or even more units of strangeness at the PANDA experiment at FAIR. For the first time, high resolution gamma-spectroscopy of doubly strange Lambda Lambda-hypernuclei will be performed, thus complementing measurements of ground state decays of Lambda Lambda-hypernuclei at J-PARC or possible …

Nonadiabatic orientation, toroidal current, and induced magnetic field in BeO molecules.

2008

It is predicted that oriented BeO molecules would give rise to unprecedentedly strong, unidirectional electric ring current and an associated magnetic field upon excitation by a right or left circularly polarized laser pulse into the first excited degenerate singlet state. The strong toroidal electric ring current of this state is dominated by the ring current of the 1π± orbital about the molecular axis. Our predictions are based on the analysis of the orbital composition of the states involved and are substantiated by high level electronic structure calculations and wavepacket simulations of the laser-driven orientation and excitation dynamics.
