Homopolymerization of styrenic monomers and their copolymerization with ethylene using group 4 non‐metallocene catalysts

Homopolymerization of styrenic monomers (St, p ‐Me‐St, p ‐t Bu‐St, p ‐t BuO‐St) and their copolymerization with ethylene, with the use of [( t Bu2O2NN′)ZrCl]2(μ‐O) (1 ) and ( t Bu2O2NN′)TiCl2 (2 ), where t Bu2O2NN′ = Me2N(CH2)2N(CH2‐2‐O−‐3,5‐t Bu2‐C6H2)2, is explored in the presence of MMAO and (i Bu)3Al/Ph3CB(C6F5)4. The ethylene/styrenic monomers copolymerization with 1 /MMAO produces exclusively copolymers with high activity and good comonomer incorporation whereas the other catalytic systems yield mixtures of copolymers and homopolymers. Dichlorovanadium(IV) diamine-bis(phenolate) complexes for ethylene (co)polymerization and 1-olefin isospecific polymerization

Abstract Two vanadium complexes bearing amine-bis(phenolate) ligands with the amino side-arm donor, [V{Me2NCH2CH2N(CH2-2-O-3,5-tBu2-C6H2)2}Cl2] (1) and [V{Me2NCH2CH2N(CH2-2-O-3,5-tBu2-C6H2)(CH2-2-O-C6H4)}Cl2] (2), were synthesised and characterized by FTIR and 1H NMR spectroscopy. Upon activation with Al(iBu)3/Ph3CB(C6F5)4, these complexes became active catalysts for 1-octene polymerization giving highly stereoregular polymers (mmmm ∼ 90%) having regioirregularly arranged units. Sulfadiazinacrylamid was absorbed after oral and intraperitoneal application in rats to a high extent; the absorption from the intraperitoneum was retarded. Glucose treatment delayed the absorption after both application forms. At comparatively high renal and enteral excretion rates the biological half life time of the monomer was estimated to 8 h. A tumouraffinity was not found but there were indications for a preferred storage in the RES. Photosynthesis relies on the correct assembly of pigment binding proteins within the thylakoid membrane. Yet, very little is known about the folding of such membrane proteins. The biochemical difficulties connected with these highly hydrophobic proteins are reflected in the low number of crystal structures available for membrane proteins to date. Dimers of the Higher-Energy Conformer of Formic Acid: Experimental Observation

We report on the first experimental observation of formic acid dimers composed of two molecules of the higher-energy cis conformer. The cis–cis formic acid dimers are prepared in an argon matrix by selective vibrational excitation of the ground state trans conformer (deuterated form HCOOD) combined with thermal annealing of the matrix at about 30 K. Five cis–cis formic acid dimers are predicted by ab initio calculations (interaction energies from −16.9 to −27.2 kJ molˉ¹), and these structures are used for the assignment of the experimental spectra. Raman spectroscopy of formic acid and its dimers isolated in low temperature argon matrices

Raman spectroscopy combined with matrix isolation technique was employed to study formic acid monomer and its dimers. Nine fundamentals of the HCOOH monomer were identified. Additionally, the OH torsion overtone is observed and it is engaged in Fermi resonance with the δCOH mode. Several bands of the cyclic (C2h) dimer were identified and assigned. The less stable open form (Cs) of the dimer was also present in the experiment. Three intermolecular modes for the cyclic and one mode for the open dimer were found in the low frequency region. The experimental studies were supported by harmonic and anharmonic DFT calculations.
