Morphology in phonology. Introduction
2005
This fourth volume of Catalan Journal of Linguistics is devoted to a topic discussed at length in the literature but which nevertheless remains a challenge for any view of phonology: the morphology-phonology interaction. The papers collected address two related issues, the role of morphological information in phonology and the role of phonological information in morphology. The first six articles (i.e. McCarthy, Wheeler, Downing, van Oostendorp, José and Auger, and Rice) deal with the former topic; the last three (i.e. Bertinetto and Jetchev, Pérez Saldanya and Vallès, and Viaplana), with the latter. Several papers (Wheeler, van Oostendorp, Rice, Bertinetto and Jetchev, Pérez Saldanya and V…
Exploring the spatial relationship between airborne-derived red and far-red sun-induced fluorescence and process-based GPP estimates in a forest ecos…

International audience; Terrestrial gross primary productivity (GPP) plays an essential role in the global carbon cycle, but the quantification of the spatial and temporal variations in photosynthesis is still largely uncertain. Our work aimed to investigate the potential of remote sensing to provide new insights into plant photosynthesis at a fine spatial resolution. This goal was achieved by exploiting high-resolution images acquired with the FLuorescence EXplorer (FLEX) airborne demonstrator HyPlant. The sensor was flown over a mixed forest, and the images collected were elaborated to obtain two independent indicators of plant photosynthesis. First, maps of sun-induced chlorophyll fluore…

Rethinking metamorphosis as rebirth of the Self opens the possibility of conceiving the subjectivity according to its plasticity, as the new perspectives of the morphological and morphogenetic investigations suggest. The ontological trait of the plasticity of the subject shows us that the Self is a continuous metamorphic activity, which is properly an activity of individualization of the identity of the Self. Following its natural metamorphic way of being and searching for its identity, the Self is revealed to be a transindividual form of life, constituting in the relationship with other transindividual forms of life and their counter-intentionality.

Can ontogenesis be read as praxis according to Aristotle’s determination of the notion? In a dialogue with Ronchi’s thinking and starting from the concept life-form, the analysis sketched in this article tries to understand the nature of the ontogenetic processes in their character of energeia atelès

The use of geomorphological units to improve drainage network extraction from DTMs. A case of study in the Carraixet catchment (Valencia, Spain)
1999
Drainage networks are one of the main elements characterizing basins, and network topology and geometry form the basis of many hydrological and geomorphological models (eg Geomorphological Unitary Hydrograph). The identification and manual delineation of channel networks from maps or aerial photographs requires much time and effort. In the last two decades, algorithms and procedures for automated extraction of drainage networks from digital elevation data have been developed and implemented in many specialized software applications. Nevertheless, automatically delineated channel networks do not always show close agreement with manually delineated networks. This paper describes a comparative…
