Vapor phase epitaxy of Hg1−xCdxI2 layers on CdTe substrates

Vapor phase epitaxy (VPE) has been studied to grow Hg1 − xCdxI2 epitaxial layers on CdTe bulk substrates. The effect of the VPE growth conditions on the morphology, composition and crystalline quality of Hg1 − xCdxI2CdTe heterostructures has been investigated. It has been shown that 10–30 μm thick Hg1 − xCdxI2 layers can be successfully grown using an α-HgI2 polycrystalline source under isothermal conditions at a temperature in the range 170–240°C for the time period 20–50 h. The aim of this study was to give reference values for the frequency of morphological sperm abnormalities present in the semen from non-experimental cynomolgus monkeys as well as for the dimensions of sperm heads. Spermatozoa from the liquid portion of electroejaculates from 14 cynomolgus monkeys were air-dried as smears, fixed, and stained with Harris's Haematoxylin and subjected to visual analysis of morphology and computer-aided analysis of ten morphometric variables. Abstract The SAXS technique is used to throw light on the morphology of phase-separated poly(ethylene oxide)n–sodium thiocyanate [(PEO)nNaSCN] mixtures. A temperature-dependent investigation is reported for (PEO)4.5NaSCN. (PEO)nNaSCN mixtures show a complex phase behaviour. At the investigated composition, a crystalline complex (CC) is formed between PEO and NaSCN. The considered composition is representative of thermodynamic states where three different phases coexist simultaneously: crystalline PEO (CPEO), amorphous PEO (APEO) and crystalline complex (CC). The development of fibrous morphology and capability of fibres for tracking the opening trajectory were investigated using numerical simulations of a natural antitaxial fibrous vein. Starting from a non-unique best case, variation of fracture opening velocity, grain size, wall roughness, growth anisotropy and crystal growth velocity shows that these parameters differ in importance for crystal morphology and tracking capability. Fibrous veins can be simulated using crack–seal opening of the fracture. Grain boundaries track the opening trajectory if the wall roughness is high, opening increments are small and crystals touch the wall before the next crack increment starts.

In the present work, two carbon quantum dots with onion ring morphology, C-NOR and C-NOR(Eu) with an average size of 40 nm differing in the absence or presence of Eu3+ as Lewis acids during their preparation were synthesized and fully characterized by several techniques. These nanoparticles can be internalized into human HeLa and Hep3B carcinoma cells where they exhibit interesting photoluminescent properties, in the same manner as in solution, confirming their utility as bioimaging agents. In this paper we present an ongoing research investigating the possibility and potential of integrating frame semantics, particularly FrameNet, in the Grammatical Framework (GF) application grammar development. An important component of GF is its Resource Grammar Library (RGL) that encapsulates the low-level linguistic knowledge about morphology and syntax of currently more than 20 languages facilitating rapid development of multilingual applications. We report the controlled synthesis of magnetic CoAl and NiFe layered double hydroxides (LDHs) endowed with well-defined morphology (hexagonal and flower-like shapes) by means of modified homogeneous precipitation. These layered magnets display high crystallinity and micrometric size, thus offering a perfect scenario for the elucidation of the role exerted by distortion of the layers in their magnetic behaviour. AbstractFirst results of combining X-ray microcomputer tomography (µCT), confocal laser-scanning microscopy (CLSM) and 14C-polymethylmethacrylate (14C-PMMA) impregnation techniques in the study of granitic rock samples are reported. Combining results of µCT and CLSM with those of the 14C-PMMA technique, the mineral-specific porosity and morphology of the open pore space, as well as its connectivity, could be analyzed from a micrometer up to a decimeter scale.Three different types of granite were studied.
