Despite the fear of the entertainment industry that illegal downloads of films might ruin their business, going to the movies continues to be a popular leisure activity. One reason why people prefer to watch movies in cinemas may be the surround of the movie screen or its physically huge size. How do we extrapolate the final position of hand trajectory that suddenly vanishes behind a wall? Studies showing maintenance of cortical activity after objects in motion disappear suggest that internal model of action may be recalled to reconstruct the missing part of the trajectory. Although supported by neurophysiological and brain imaging studies, behavioural evidence for this hypothesis is sparse. Localization of emotional and volitional facial paresis.

Emotional facial paresis is characterized by impaired activation of face muscles with emotion but normal voluntary activation. We report seven patients with this sign. Their lesions involved the frontal lobe white matter, the striatocapsular territory, the anterolateral thalamus and insula, the posterior thalamus and operculum, and the mesial temporal lobe and insula each in one patient, and the posterior thalamus in two patients. Volitional facial paresis affects facial movements with voluntary effort, sparing activation on emotion. We report four such patients, with lesions involving the motor cortex in one and the pyramidal tract in the cerebral hemisphere in three.

Abstract Introduction Dog visits to nursing homes are used as a structured approach for enhancing residents' well-being. Few studies have emphasized the perspectives of the organizers. The purpose of the present study was to gain insight into the experiences of volunteer dog handlers and nurses involved in dog visits to nursing homes, focusing on what motivated them to contribute and identifying possible factors to successful dog visits. Surface acting and deep acting with customers are strategies for service performance, but evidence for their effectiveness is limited and mixed. We propose that deep acting is an effective strategy for most employees, whereas surface acting's effect on performance effectiveness depends on employee extraversion. In Study 1, restaurant servers who tended to use deep acting exceeded their customers' expectations and had greater financial gains (i.e., tips) regardless of extraversion, whereas surface acting improved tips only for extraverts, not for introverts. The aims of this study were to compare coordination and coordination variability in backward and forward running and to investigate the effects of speed on coordination variability in both backward and forward running.
