Social Environmental Antecedents of Athletes’ Emotions
2021
The coach-created motivational climate influences variations in athletes’ motivation and emotional experiences. The present study aimed to examine social environmental antecedents of athletes’ emotions. Participants (N = 262, 52% female, M age = 22.75 ± 6.92) completed questionnaires assessing perceptions of coach-created motivational climates, goal orientations, motivation regulations, and emotions. The mediation effects of goal orientations (i.e., task/ego) and motivation regulations (i.e., autonomous/controlled) on the relationship between motivational climate (i.e., empowering/disempowering) and emotions (i.e., happiness, excitement, anxiety, dejection, and anger) were examined. Structu…
Teaching English through Arts in upper secondary school : a photographic teaching material package
2017
Lukion opetussuunnitelma uudistui vuonna 2015. Uudistuneessa OPS:ssa kannustetaan oppiainerajat ylittävään laaja-alaiseen oppimiseen. Tämä tarjoaa uusia ja mielenkiintoisia lähestymistapoja kielenopettamiseen lukiossa. Tämä materiaalipaketti yhdistää kuvataiteen ja englannin kielen opettamisen valokuvauksen avulla. Valokuvia on tänä päivänä helppo ottaa, sillä lähes jokaisella on älypuhelin, johon on tavallisesti integroitu kamera.
Construct validity and reliability of the physical activity parenting questionnaire for children (PAP-C)
2021
Background Children’s perception of parenting is hypothesised to significantly affect their physical activity (PA). This study aimed to examine construct validity, factorial invariance and reliability of a new tool: Physical Activity Parenting questionnaire for Children (PAP-C). Methods PAP-C comprised 22 items hypothesised to cover 3 theory-guided factors of physical activity parenting (PAP)—namely, structure for activity, autonomy support and involvement. Construct validity and internal consistency of PAP-C were tested using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and composite reliability in a sample of Finnish first, second- and third graders (n = 456; mean age 8.77 ± 0.84 years, girls 51.1%…
“It Is Like Compulsory to Go, but It Is still pretty Nice”: Young Children’s Views on Physical Activity Parenting and the Associated Motivational Reg…
2020
Physical activity parenting (PAP) is consistently correlated with children’s physical activity (PA). Children’s perception of PAP has garnered little attention given that it mediates the relationship between PAP and child PA outcomes. This study aimed to examine 7–10-year-old children’s perspectives on PAP practices and how they relate to their motivational regulation of PA. A total of 79 children 7–10 years of age participated in 19 semi-structured focus group interviews. Through qualitative theory-guided content analysis, using frameworks of parenting dimensions and self-determination theory (SDT), we found that children’s perceptions of high responsiveness and low demandingness in PAP—ac…
Co-Creation of Value for IT-Enabled Services : A Case of Geocaching
2013
This study explores how value is co-created in one particular IT-enabled service, geocaching. Consumer Information Systems (CIS) framework is used as a sensitizing framework to study experienced geocachers' (n=14) perceptions of what they value in geocaching. The following core values emerged that motivate people to co-create value in geocaching: challenging oneself and others, joy of success, learning, and social relations. The results reveal that geocaching is distinctively hedonic in nature, as people pursue happiness and utility via geocaching. Even support for the geocaching community was motivated by such values. In addition, the results reveal that the environment of geocaching and s…

Sports didactics : The shift towards pedagogical framework in Finland
2022
The teaching of physical education (PE) to educators in Finland has shifted from didactic techniques focusing on teachers’ actions towards more holistic pedagogy that questions how pupils learn. These changes can be seen in physical education teacher education (PETE) and study books and in the development of PE curriculums for basic education. The national curriculum for basic education changes approximately every ten years and, recently, the national learning outcomes of PE of the two previous curriculums were evaluated. Reflecting on these learning outcomes, the latest research results and feedback from PE teachers, the groundwork for the latest PE curriculum was laid out. The objectives …
Activity Trackers Influencing Motivation and Awareness: Study Among Fitness Centre Members
2017
Consumer fitness technology products are becoming increasingly popular. This leads to interesting questions about the influence of activity trackers on a person’s motivation to exercise. This study explored the role of activity trackers in motivating fitness centre members towards exercising and in increasing their awareness regarding their own health and physical activity. The study included 100 fitness centre members divided into a test group and a control group and three sub-groups: OLD, NEW, and personal trainer (PT) members. The focus was on gym visit frequency during a 10-week test period and on tracking the consistency of activity levels. Participants also completed a pre and post st…

Harjoittelusta apua kroonisen kipupotilaan kokonaisvaltaiseen hyvinvointiin - Mitä, miksi ja miten
2018
