Efficient Conversion of Light to Chemical Energy : Directional, Chiral Photoswitches with Very High Quantum Yields

Abstract Photochromic systems have been used to achieve a number of engineering functions such as light energy conversion, molecular motors, pumps, actuators, and sensors. Key to practical applications is a high efficiency in the conversion of light to chemical energy, a rigid structure for the transmission of force to the environment, and directed motion during isomerization. We present a novel type of photochromic system (diindane diazocines) that converts visible light with an efficiency of 18 % to chemical energy. In this work, thermoelectric textiles were prepared by coating the fabrics, first with multiple-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) by using the layer-by-layer technique and second with poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) deposited by electrochemical polymerization. Sodium deoxycholate and poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) were used as stabilizers to prepare the aqueous dispersions of MWCNTs. Aikaisempi tutkimus äänenvärin ja fundamenttitaajuuden yhtenäisyydestä on keskittynyt tutkimaan niiden havaitsemista toiminnasta erillisenä prosessina. Viimeaikainen tutkimus on kuitenkin osoittanut, että ihmisen havainto- ja toiminta-alueet ovat yhteenkytkeytyneitä. Tässä työssä tutkittiin äänenvärin ja fundamenttitaajuuden yhtenäisyyttä sensomotorisessa synkronoitumistehtävässä, jolloin niiden yhtenäisyydestä saatiin tietoa osana ihmisen tavoitteellista toimintaa.
