Design of a mezzanine card with bandwidth aggregation for HPGe gamma spectroscopy

2016

In experimental nuclear physics, HPGe segmented detectors are used to provide high energy resolution of the gamma rays. Besides, 4pi configuration is common to get a full coverage of the interaction point and detection of all the products of the collisions. In this type of experiments, the number of electronic channels can be high (>100) and also the sampling frequency of the digitizing system (>100 Msps). This results in a high data rate per channel (> 2 Gbps) and thus a high aggregated bandwidth to process. In principle, this problem can be solved using a parallel data acquisition system where the input channels (commonly arriving through optical fibers) are read and processed accordingly…

Sustainable Entrepreneurial Orientation: A Business Strategic Approach for Sustainable Development

2017

This paper proposes sustainable entrepreneurial orientation (SEO) as a multidimensional construct that offers researchers the possibility of empirically testing their theoretical proposals in the sustainable entrepreneurship field. The authors propose an integration of different theories. In accordance with the dynamic capabilities view, SEO is approached under an organizational paradigm of strategic orientations delimited by competitive culture and multiple orientation perspectives. Furthermore, SEO's nature is conceived at a firm-based entrepreneurship level and is based on an integrated triple bottom line sustainability. This approach is conceptualized using a categorization scheme and d…

Socio-cultural factors and transnational entrepreneurship

2011

This article addresses theoretical and empirical issues concerning the emergent field of transnational entrepreneurship. We discuss issues regarding the antecedents of transnational entrepreneurship focusing specifically on the socio-cultural factors affecting this phenomenon in the Spanish context. Entrepreneurship, ethnic and transnational entrepreneurship literature is combined with institutional approach to explain what and how different socio-cultural factors influence the emergence and development of transnational entrepreneurship in Catalonia (in the north-east of Spain). We do this by looking at four case studies of transnational entrepreneurs with different ethnicity (Ecuadorian, …

Erodibility prioritization of sub-watersheds using morphometric parameters analysis and its mapping: A comparison among TOPSIS, VIKOR, SAW, and CF mu…

2018

Soil erosion, every year imposes extensive damages to human beings by means of reducing soil productivity and filling reservoirs from sedimentation in Ghaemshahr Basin in Mazandaran Province, (Iran); therefore, identifying prone areas to soil erosion for preventive measures is essential in this basin. In this research, erodibility prioritization of sub-watersheds of Ghaemshahr Basin has done using morphometric parameters analysis and different multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) models such as simple additive weighing (SAW), VlseKriterijumska optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje (VIKOR), technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS), and compound factor (CF). Unraveling metabolic flexibility of rhodococci in PCB transformation

2021

International audience; Even though the genetic attributes suggest presence of multiple degradation pathways, most of rhodococci are known to transform PCBs only via regular biphenyl (bph) pathway. Using GC-MS analysis, we monitored products formed during transformation of 2,4,4′-trichlorobiphenyl (PCB-28), 2,2′,5,5′-tetrachlorobiphenyl (PCB-52) and 2,4,3′-trichlorobiphenyl (PCB-25) by previously characterized PCB-degrading rhodococci Z6, T6, R2, and Z57, with the aim to explore their metabolic pleiotropy in PCB transformations. A striking number of different transformation products (TPs) carrying a phenyl ring as a substituent, both those generated as a part of the bph pathway and an array…

Evaluation of a multiplex reverse transcriptase PCR ELISA for the detection of nine respiratory tract pathogens.

2003

A multiplex reverse transcription (RT) polymerase chain reaction combined with a microwell hybridization assay (m-RT-PCR-ELISA) was previously developed to detect nine different microorganisms: enterovirus (EV), influenza virus type A (IVA) and type B (IVB), respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), parainfluenzavirus type 1 (PIV1) and type 3 (PIV3), adenovirus (AV), Mycoplasma pneumoniae (Mpn), Chlamydia pneumoniae (Cpn) in a single test. These organisms do not usually colonize the respiratory tract of humans, but, if present, it may be assumed they are involved in respiratory disease. The m-RT-PCR-ELISA was tested on (i) culture supernatants of unknown contents, (ii) by determining the analytical…

Combined Bacteriophage and Antibiotic Treatment Prevents Pseudomonas aeruginosa Infection of Wild Type and cftr- Epithelial Cells

2020

International audience; With the increase of infections due to multidrug resistant bacterial pathogens and the shortage of antimicrobial molecules with novel targets, interest in bacteriophages as a therapeutic option has regained much attraction. Before the launch of future clinical trials, in vitro studies are required to better evaluate the efficacies and potential pitfalls of such therapies. Here we studied in an ex vivo human airway epithelial cell line model the efficacy of phage and ciprofloxacin alone and in combination to treat infection by Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The Calu-3 cell line and the isogenic CFTR knock down cell line (cftr-) infected apically with P. aeruginosa strain PAO…

Comparison between whole blood viscosity measured and calculated in subjects with monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance and in patients …

2021

BACKGROUND: in this study, with a re-evaluation of the hemorheological determinants previously described in MGUS subjects and in MM patients, we have detected the calculated whole blood viscosity, according whether to the hematocrit and total plasma protein concentration (de Simone formula) or to the haematocrit and plasma fibrinogen level (Merrill formula), and a marker of the erythrocyte aggregation (albumin/fibrinogen level). METHODS: data were expressed as means±standard deviation. Student’s t test for unpaired data was used to compare MGUS subjects and MM patients. The correlation coefficient between mean erythrocyte aggregation (MEA) and hematocrit (Ht) was evaluated in MGUS, MM and M…

Orthogonal Multicarrier Transmission with Modal Channel Estimation

2009

A novel multi-carrier orthogonal transmission scheme is presented. While being simpler to implement, it has a spectral efficiency and design parameters similar to those of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing based on Offset Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (OFDM/OQAM). A parametric channel estimation technique is subsequently reported. The proposed technique is based on an algorithm obtained from classic Multiple Signal Classification (MUSIC) by relaxation of the hypothesis on the number of measurements with respect to the number of sensors. Numerical simulations show that our proposal outperforms previous works in this field.
