An Improved Receiver Architecture for Cyclic-Prefixed OFDM
2009
A novel Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing receiver architecture to be employed with standard (e.g. Wireless LAN) transmitters is proposed. It features enhanced error-rate performance with flexible computational complexity and robustness to imperfect channel estimation. It is based on exploitation of the redundancy available in the cyclic prefix after cancellation of interference from the previous block. In order to show the effectiveness of our proposal, a number of comparisons to the standard per-subcarrier receiver and a previously existing method are reported.
Efficient Design of Waveguide Manifold Multiplexers Based on Low-Order EM Distributed Models
2015
In this paper, a new systematic technique to design manifold-coupled multiplexers in waveguide technology is proposed. The new technique uses generalized low-order electromagnetic (EM) distributed models, which constitute a half-way point between the fast, but imprecise, analytical models, and the more accurate, but costly, full-wave EM models. The method can be applied to contiguous and noncontiguous channel multiplexers, in both E-plane or H-plane configurations. This paper covers the complete design procedure for manifold multiplexers, starting from the required specifications and finishing with the physical dimensions. After explaining the general design technique for multiplexers with …
Multicore Fiber Opportunities for Centralized Radio Access Networks
2014
JCI-2012-14805 PROMETEO II/2013/012 Radio-over-fiber architectures conceived for the next generation of wireless access systems are based on Centralized Radio Access Networks…

Performance analysis of wideband sum-of-cisoids-based channel simulators with respect to the bit error probability of DPSK OFDM Systems
2009
In this paper, we analyze the performance of a wideband sum-of-cisoids (SOC) channel simulator w.r.t. the bit error probability (BEP) of differential phase-shift keying (DPSK) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. Analytical BEP expressions are derived for coherent and non- coherent DPSK OFDM simulation systems in the presence of a wideband SOC channel simulator. We also study the degradations of the BEP introduced by an imperfect channel simulator. Using the deviation of the BEP as an appropriate measure, we evaluate the performance of three parameter computation methods, known as the method of exact Doppler spread (MEDS), the randomized MEDS (R-MEDS), and the Monte Ca…
Temporal multiplexing with adaptive optics for simultaneous vision.
2016
We present and test a methodology for generating simultaneous vision with a deformable mirror that changed shape at 50 Hz between two vergences: 0 D (far vision) and −2.5 D (near vision). Different bifocal designs, including toric and combinations of spherical aberration, were simulated and assessed objectively. We found that typical corneal aberrations of a 60-year-old subject changes the shape of objective through-focus curves of a perfect bifocal lens. This methodology can be used to investigate subjective visual performance for different multifocal contact or intraocular lens designs.
Off-axis digital holographic multiplexing for rapid wavefront acquisition and processing
2020
Off-axis holographic multiplexing involves capturing several complex wavefronts, each encoded into off-axis holograms with different interference fringe orientations, simultaneously, with a single camera acquisition. Thus, the multiplexed off-axis hologram can capture several wavefronts at once, where each one encodes different information from the sample, using the same number of pixels typically required for acquiring a single conventional off-axis hologram encoding only one sample wavefront. This gives rise to many possible applications, with focus on acquisition of dynamic samples, with hundreds of scientific papers already published in the last decade. These include field-of-view multi…
Titanium Dioxide Waveguides for Data Transmissions at 1.55 µm and 1.98 µm
2017
International audience; We demonstrate error free transmissions of 10 Gbps signals in titanium dioxide waveguides at wavelengths of 1.55 or 2 µm. An efficient coupling of light is achieved thanks to metal grating couplers and we have checked that the component could be used with standard CWDM SFP+ devices.
Simultaneous 2R regeneration of WDM signals in a single optical fibre
2009
Two experimental implementations of amplitude regeneration of WDM signals based on self-phase modulation (SPM) in optical fibres are discussed. The two examples differ in their approach of mitigation of inter-channel nonlinearities.
Cascadability and efficiency of a saturable absorber device inserted into a SMF transmission line for future 160-Gbit/s all-optical reshaping applica…
2007
In this prospective work, we analyze the cascadability and reshaping properties of a quantum well microcavity saturable absorber (SA) device cascaded inside a RZ-signal SMF-based transmission line to annihilate the ghost-pulse phenomenon taking place in the "...01010101..." 160-Gbit/s 2-bit pattern.
