Formal Group Laws for Affine Kac-Moody groups and group quantization

We describe a method for obtaining Formal Group Laws from the structure constants of Affine Kac-Moody groups and then apply a group manifold quantization procedure which permits construction of physical representations by using only canonical structures on the group. As an intermediate step we get an explicit expression for two-cocycles on Loop Groups. The programme is applied to the AffineSU(2) group.

A Sequential Quadratic Programming Method for Volatility Estimation in Option Pricing

Our goal is to identify the volatility function in Dupire's equation from given option prices. Following an optimal control approach in a Lagrangian framework, we propose a globalized sequential quadratic programming (SQP) algorithm with a modified Hessian - to ensure that every SQP step is a descent direction - and implement a line search strategy. In each level of the SQP method a linear-quadratic optimal control problem with box constraints is solved by a primal-dual active set strategy. Generalized Camassa-Holm Equations: Symmetry, Conservation Laws and Regular Pulse and Front Solutions

In this paper, we consider a member of an integrable family of generalized Camassa–Holm (GCH) equations. We make an analysis of the point Lie symmetries of these equations by using the Lie method of infinitesimals. We derive nonclassical symmetries and we find new symmetries via the nonclassical method, which cannot be obtained by Lie symmetry method. We employ the multiplier method to construct conservation laws for this family of GCH equations. Using the conservation laws of the underlying equation, double reduction is also constructed. Numerical simulation of unsteady MHD flows and applications

International audience; We present a robust numerical method for solving the compressible Ideal Magneto-Hydrodynamic equations. It is based on the Residual Distribution (RD) algorithms already successfully tested in many problems. We adapted the scheme to the multi-dimensional unsteady MHD model. The constraint ∇ · B = 0 is enforced by the use a Generalized Lagrange Multiplier (GLM) technique. Continuous spectrum for a two phase eigenvalue problem with an indefinite and unbounded potential

Abstract We consider a two phase eigenvalue problem driven by the ( p , q ) -Laplacian plus an indefinite and unbounded potential, and Robin boundary condition. Using a modification of the Nehari manifold method, we show that there exists a nontrivial open interval I ⊆ R such that every λ ∈ I is an eigenvalue with positive eigenfunctions. When we impose additional regularity conditions on the potential function and the boundary coefficient, we show that we have smooth eigenfunctions.

Unconventional monetary policy reaction functions: evidence from the US

Abstract We specify unconventional monetary policy reaction functions for the Fed using linear and nonlinear econometric frameworks. We find that nonstandard policy measures are largely driven by the dynamics of inflation and the output gap, with the effect being particularly strong during QE rounds. Moreover, we uncover the presence of asymmetry and regime dependence in central bank’s actions since the global financial crisis, especially concerning the response of the term spread and the shadow short rate to the growth rate of central bank reserves. Effects of Fiscal Stimulus in Structural Models

The paper assesses, using seven structural models used heavily by policymaking institutions, the effectiveness of temporary fiscal stimulus. Models can, more easily than empirical studies, account for differences between fiscal instruments, for differences between structural characteristics of the economy, and for monetary-fiscal policy interactions. Findings are: (i) There is substantial agreement across models on the sizes of fiscal multipliers. (ii) The sizes of spending and targeted transfers multipliers are large.
