Lexical Mixing in a Conversation between Old Helsinki Slang Speakers

In this article, a conversation between Old Helsinki Slang (OHS) speakers recorded in 1965 is examined. A notable feature of OHS is the heavy use of Swedish-based or otherwise un-Finnish words although it mostly follows the grammar of colloquial Finnish. e sample that is analyzed consists of free speech, and it lasts 65 minutes. If uncertain items are taken into account, then the proportion of borrowed lexical items in the data is 29–32%. Function and content words in OHS di er markedly in their etymological origin as the function words are overwhelmingly Finnish. Deze studie vanuit een dynamisch perspectief onderzoekt de ontwikkeling van acht beginnende leerders Fins als vreemde (VT; Nederland; focus: grammatica) en tweede (T2; Finland; focus: communicatie) taal. Suomi toisena kielenä -oppijoiden sananmuodostustaitojen jäljillä

Tämän tutkimuksen päätavoitteena on kartoittaa suomi toisena kielenä -oppijoiden sananmuodostustaitoja, sillä aihealue on toistaiseksi ollut lähestulkoon tutkimaton. Sananmuodostus on yksi suomen kielen ominaispiirteistä, joten se on tärkeä kielen osa-alue suomenoppijoiden kannalta. Tutkimuksessa selvitettiin, miten paljon ja millaisia sananmuodostuskeinoja S2-oppijat hyödyntävät kirjoitelmissaan ja miten niiden käyttäminen on kehittynyt kahdessa vuodessa. Erillisten johtamistehtävien avulla tutkittiin kontrolloidummin, miten oppijat osaavat muodostaa johdoksia ja miten hyvin he tuntevat johdinten merkitystehtäviä.
