The effect of long-term excercise on the intervertebral disc collagen concentration (hydroxyproline), collagen-synthesizing enzymes (prolyl-4-hydroxylase, PH, and galactosyl-hydroxylysyl glucosyltransferase, GGT) and hydroxypyridinium crosslinks was studied in ten female beagle dogs. The dogs were run on a treadmill for 1 year starting at the age of 15 weeks. The daily running distance was gradually increased to 40km, which distance the dogs ran for the final 15 weeks. Cross country sit skiing is a Paralympic discipline in which athletes due to physical impairment ski sitting on a sit-ski. The impairment influences performance directly and also through sitting position. Only 5% to 10% of chondrosarcomas occur in the head and neck, representing 0.1% of all head and neck neoplasms, with the larynx and the maxillo-nasal region being the most common sites. This report describes an unusual case of chondrosarcoma in a 54-year-old man who presented with pain and swelling in the left preauricular area. Computed tomography demonstrated a soft tissue mass in the left temporomandibular joint without causing erosion of the adjacent bony structures. Objective: to study whether the use of cement with a high dose of antibiotics is a factor associated with a lower infection rate in hip hemiarthroplasty after femoral neck fracture.Material and methods: a retrospective cohort study of 144 consecutive patients treated surgically for a cervical hip fracture with cemented hip hemiarthroplasty between February 2015 and February 2017. In 88 (61.1%) high dose antibiotic cement was used, defined as a concentration ? 5% of the total weight (Group 1) and in 56 (38.9%) cement without antibiotics was used (Group 2).
