1988

The authors analyse the morphological variations at the proximal extremity of the Femur, theoretically hale in patients with Legg-Calvé-Perthes Syndrom unilateral. This study was carried out in 200 radiographic controls made in 50 cases of LeggCalvé- Perthes Syndrom unilateral, and another group of 200 patients without affectation of the hip joint by systemic or local process. This was the control group.

Physiological bases of bone regeneration II : The remodeling process

2006

Bone remodeling is the restructuring process of existing bone, which is in constant resorption and formation. Under normal conditions, this balanced process allows the renewal of 5 ? 10% of bone volume per year. At the microscopic level, bone remodeling is produced in basic multicellular units, where osteoclasts resorb a certain quantity of bone and osteoblasts form the osteoid matrix and mineralize it to fill the previously created cavity. These units contain osteoclasts, macrophages, preosteoblasts and osteoblasts, and are controlled by a series of factors, both general and local, allowing normal bone function and maintaining the bone mass. When this process becomes unbalanced then bone p…

Ozone Therapy in joint pathology [abstract]

2018

Aim. Ozone therapy is minimally invasive procedure for the treatment of various medical problems including osteoarthritis, frozen shoulder etc .We report the treatment on a series of patients affected by joint pathology, treated by injection of oxygen-ozone gas mixture. This is an experience of treating acute and chronic disease of the large joints (knee, shoulder, hip) by intra and peri-articular injections of an oxygen- ozone gas mixture. The patients were assessed before and after treatment. In addition to a resolution of joint pain, patients had a good functional recovery of their daily activities and the treatment was well-tolerated. Methods. Forty?three patients, ages ranging from 32 …

2019

Total knee arthroplasty and its postoperative period can be very painful. Usually patients undergoing locoregional or general anesthetic techniques to which peripheral nerve blocks are associated for postoperative analgesia, within which femoral nerve block is the most widespread an adequate analgesic quality of the anterior compartment of the knee. It is widely described in the literature that blockage of the adductor canal or Hunter confers an analgesic quality similar to that achieved with the femoral block without objectifying that motor block that can limit its use for rapid rehabilitation. Recently also described in the literature, the blockade that is defined as IPACK (Infiltration b…

A review of temporomandibular joint disease (TMJD). Part II : clinical and radiological semiology. Morbidity processes

2008

The clinical signs and symptoms of greatest semiologic value in temporomandibular joint disease (TMJD) are muscle pain, joint pain, limitations in mandibular movement, and joint sounds. Imaging studies of the joint are very useful for establishing the diagnosis and for discarding other disease processes, though in many cases diagnostic error results from the detection of a large proportion of patients with alterations in the imaging studies but with no associated clinical manifestations. Panoramic X-rays and magnetic resonance imaging are the most commonly used complementary techniques for diagnosing TMJD. MRI may be regarded as the imaging technique of choice, particularly when studying th…

1988

This statiscal study evaluated the relationship between simple lumbar reontgenogram and the existence of herniated lumbar discs at certain levels. 120 patients with herniated discs surgically verified were studied, taking four parametres from their x-ray films. Conclusions show that sorne characteristics of the lumbar spine as a high illiac crest Iine and a rudimentary rib at T12 level, could become the existence of herniated discs at L4-L5 leve! and to protect L5-S1 level.

2017

The purpose of the study was to report the clinical epidemiology for patients with symptomatic femoroacetabular impingement undergoing hip arthroscopy. A total of 112 patients were enrolled. In this cohort, femoroacetabular impingement occurred predominantly in young patients, with normal BMI, more male than female, high level of sports activity, duration of symptoms prior to surgery time longer than 12 months, with a pattern of cam type, labrum and acetabular rim injury in arthroscopic procedure.

2020

Circumferential arthrodesis is postulated as the surgical treatment of choice in some de-generative and disc diseases of the lumbar spine, both in primary surgery and especially in revision surgery. Objective: To measure pain and functionality using the ODI scale, in patients with low back and / or radicular pain who have had a comprehensive transforaminal surgical ap-proach together with anterior and posterior arthrodesis (TLIF).Material and methods: In our series, we performed TLIF(transforaminal interbody fusión lumbar) on 38 patients during 2-000-2.003 years and evaluated the long-term results, ten years, using the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI).Results: They show improvement in ODI by …

1988

The authors describe their experience with the SALTER'S and CHIARI'S techniques. 27 osteotomies are reported, with studies about theirs indications (congenital dislocation of the hip, Perthe's Disease), age of realitation roentgenographic signs (C. E. angle of Wiberg, acetabular angle). They also put through proximal femoral varus derotational osteotomy at the same time with the SALTER'S technique. They show sorne details of the technique and conclusions after their clinical experience are reviewed.
