Tutkimukseni kartoittaa aluetaidemuseotoiminnan muutoksia ja keskeisimpiä muutoksen taustalla olevia tekijöitä aina toiminnan käynnistämisestä eli 1970-luvulla alkaneesta aluetaidemuseokokeilusta vuoteen 2010. Museohistoria nousi ajankohtaiseksi vuonna 2005 käynnistyneen Suomen museohistoriahankkeen myötä ja hanke toimi yhtenä kimmokkeena aiheen valinnalle. Tavoitteenani on ollut kuvata aluetaidemuseoiden historiallista kehityskulkua. Tutkimustehtävä jakautuu kahteen osaan. Ensimmäisessä osassa tarkastellaan aluetaidemuseotoiminnan kehittymistä, mutta myös poliittisia ja yhteiskunnallisia muutoksia museoiden toimintaympäristössä. Experiencing Authenticity at Alvar Aalto’s Experimental House

Experiences of authenticity are studied at Alvar Aalto’s Experimental House – today a modern house museum – which has gone through renovations and changes. Visitors were interviewed to find out how they feel about the authenticity of the place, if the changes affect their experience of authenticity, and if they share the same opinions. A review of the literature on the concept of authenticity is carried out and its implications for museum contexts is considered, and then the research questions are answered by analysing 30 interviews of visitors to the Experimental House.

Bloggaaminen on ollut tasaisesti nousussa oleva trendi sosiaalisessa mediassa 1990-luvun lopulta alkaen. Sosiaalisesta mediasta löytyy monenlaisia blogeja eri aiheista ja eri aloilta. Uusi järjestöjen blogilaji ilmestyi 2000-luvun alussa, nimittäin museoblogi. This dissertation consists of nine empirical studies which seek to broaden understanding of Finnish regional economic structures. These studies are divided between two topics: 1) regional specialization and industrial concentration in Finland, and 2) regional economic impact analysis. The empirical studies are preceded by an introduction, in which the theoretical background, outline and the main results of the thesis are presented. The research on the first topic is guided by the new economic geography literature, from which answers are sought to the location and agglomeration questions addressed in this dissertation. This study examines the construction of ethnicity in the permanent exhibitions of two museums: Siida, the National Museum of the Finnish Sámi and the Nature Centre of Metsähallitus, and Ájtte, the Swedish Mountain and Sámi Museum. The study is motivated by three research questions: What kind of ethnic categories and boundaries do the exhibitions create? How is Sámi ethnicity defined by displaying cultural features?
