Die Wirkung unterschiedlicher Lichtintensitäten während der Anzucht auf die CO2-Kompensationslage, die Glykolsäure-Oxidase- und Ribulosebiphosphat-Ca…
1978
Summary Sinapis alba (white mustard) plants were grown under conditions of strong (100 W · m -2 ) and weak (3 W · m -2 ) light and the effect of the light intensity during growth on the CO 2 -compensation point and the activities of glycolic acid oxidase and ribulose bisphosphate carboxylase were studied. The CO 2 -compensation concentration was determined according to two methods: firstly in a closed system with an infrared CO 2 -analyzer, and secondly according to the curve of net photosynthesis as a function of C0 2 -concentration over the range of 400 vpm CO 2 to the CO 2 -compensation point (Fig. 4). The intensity of light during growth was observed to exert an unmistakable effect on t…
WEASELS’ (MUSTELA NIVALIS NIVALIS) PREFERENCE FOR OLFACTORY CUES OF THE VOLE (CLETHRIONOMYS GLAREOLUS)
2003
Many studies on life history strategies of small mammals under predation risk are based on assumptions that mammalian predators use scent marking from prey in searching and hunting. This is especially true for small mustelids hunting in the tunnels and cavities of their prey. It is assumed that weasels use the estrous signs of female voles as hunting cues, which exposes such females to a more pronounced risk of predation. We studied the preferences of 57 least weasels (Mustela nivalis nivalis) toward odor cues from four different reproductive categories of the bank vole (Clethrionomys glareolus). In the first experiment, weasels selected clearly for vole odors over clean bedding in a Y-maze…
Die Wirkung unterschiedlicher Lichtintensitäten auf die Nitratreduktase-Aktivität, den Gehalt an löslichen Proteinen und löslichen reduzierenden Zuck…
1977
Summary Plants of Sinapis alba (white mustard) grown under strong light conditions have a higher content of soluble reducing sugars, of soluble proteins and a higher dry wight during growth from germination to flowering. Furthermore, in these plants the nitrate reductase activity is essentially higher during the vegetative development, but before the beginning of the flowering phase the activity is less than the level of plants grown under low light intensities. The results obtained indicate a direct correlation between nitrate reductase activity and the content of soluble proteins. In the high-light plants both components show distinct maxima 13—14 days after sowing the seeds. The enhancem…
Novel concepts on the recovery of by-products from alkaline pulping
2016
Innovative biorefinery concepts were developed for the separation and utilization of organic materials, especially aliphatic carboxylic acids, lignin, and extractives, which are formed as by-products during wood-based alkaline delignification processes. The partial recovery of sodium as NaOH and aliphatic carboxylic acids from hardwood soda-AQ black liquor was studied via electrodialysis. The lignin was partly (about 59 % of the initial lignin) precipitated from black liquor by carbonation (pH to about 8.5) followed by electrodialysis or H2SO4 (pH to about 2), with subsequent precipitation of more lignin and the liberation of aliphatic acids. The Na2SO4 formed was successfully separated fro…
The Influence of Brassinosteroid, a Growth-promoting Steroidal Lactone, on Development and CO2-fixation Capacity of Intact Wheat and Mustard Seedlings
1984
In 1970, Mitchell et al. isolated a lipoidal complex from the pollen of rape (Brassica napus L.). This complex, called “Brassins” was found to have partly powerful growth-promoting properties. The novel growth response of young bean plants in the second internode assay (Worley, Mitchell 1971; Mitchell, Gregory 1972) and other physiological changes following Brassin-treatment have been studied under several aspects (Krizek, Worley 1981; Gregory 1981).

New nitrogen mustard analogues in which bis(2-chloroethyl)-amino groups are separated by oxyethylene groups, 1,14-dichloro-3,12-bis(2-chloroethyl)-3,12-diaza-6,9-dioxatetradecan (3c) and 1,17-dichloro-3,15-bis(2-chloroethyl)-3,15-diaza-6,9,12-trioxaheptadecane (3d), were synthesized by reaction of bis(2-hydroxyethyl)amine (2) with bis(2-chloroethyoxy)ethylene (1a) and with 1,11-dichloro-3,6,9-trioxaundecane (1b), respectively, followed by treatment with thionyl chloride. The analogues were then complexed with heparin. The resulting heparin-complexes show inhibiting activity against transplanted Sarcoma-180 A in mice.

Taloustieteellisen tutkimustiedon löydettävyys ja avoimuus Suomessa
2019
