Effects of soil organic matter content and temperature on toxicity of dimethoate toFolsomia fimetaria(Collembola: Isotomiidae)

The purpose of these experiments was to study the effects of two major environmental factors, soil organic matter content (1.4–8.6%) and temperature (10–20°C), on chemical toxicity to a soil-dwelling collembolan Folsomia fimetaria. Dimethoate was used as a reference chemical. Effects on survival, reproduction, and juvenile size were investigated. Increasing soil organic matter content reduced toxicity significantly, but the differences disappeared when results were recalculated and expressed as soil pore-water concentrations. Nine naphthoquinones, 19 anthraquinones, and nine structurally related monoketonic compounds such as anthrone, xanthone, etc., inhibited mutagenicity induced by 2-amino-3-methylimidazo[4,5-f]quinoline (IQ) in Salmonella typhimurium TA 98 in the presence of rat liver S9 with distinct structure-activity relationships. The prevalence of smoking among Croatian adolescents is alarmingly high, but no previous study has prospectively examined the sport- and academic-factors associated with smoking and smoking initiation. Organophosphonate utilization by the wild‐type strain of cladosporium resinae

We studied the biodegradation of compounds containing phosphorus‐to‐carbon bond by using wild‐type strain of Cladosporium resinae. The substrate specificity of the strain was studied and we found that it is able to utilize a range of structurally diverse organophosphonates as a sole source of phosphorus. This ability is inducible as indicated by the presence of a lag phase of the growth. A popular herbicide glyphosate is also degraded by the fungi. This indicates that Cladosporium resinae may play an important role in biodegradation of this herbicide. The strain which we used, however, did not metabolise any phosphonates when they served as the sole carbon or nitrogen sources.

Italian “Gelli–Bianco” law (law n. 24 enacted by the Italian Government on 8 March 2017) introduced innovative changes and regulations regarding patient safety and healthcare workers’ (HCWs) liability. Mental Fatigue Effects on the Produced Perception of Effort and Its Impact on Subsequent Physical Performances.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between mental fatigue induced by a demanding cognitive task and impaired physical performance in endurance due to a higher perception of effort. The presented research shows that neither women nor men are honest with their partners when informing them about the amount of money spent on collecting items. Their behaviour may show signs of addiction to collecting. Men in comparison to women spend more and are less likely to lower the amounts of money spent on collected items. Those who earn more spend more on their collections. Women and men also use different techniques of hiding their expenses. Women do not inform about their expenses using denying techniques (such as saying that it was bought/borrowed a long time ago, etc.), whereas men inform about expenses but use preventive techniques (such as exchange).
