Semiconductor Nanocrystals with Multifunctional Polymer Ligands
2002
In this letter, we describe the preparation of a versatile polymer ligand, which can be attached to CdSe/ZnS semiconductor nanocrystals via a phase transfer reaction. The ligand is based on a chain of reactive esters, which can, in principle, be substituted by any compound containing amino-functionalities. The polymer/nanocrystal complexes are characterized in terms of structure and photostability.
Structural and Electrochemical Analysis of CIGS: Cr Crystalline Nanopowders and Thin Films Deposited onto ITO Substrates
2021
A new approach for the synthesis of nanopowders and thin films of CuInGaSe2 (CIGS) chalcopyrite material doped with different amounts of Cr is presented. The chalcopyrite material CuInxGa1 − xSe2 was doped using Cr to form a new doped chalcopyrite with the structure CuInxCryGa1 − x − ySe2, where x = 0.4 and y = 0.0, 0.1, 0.2, or 0.3. The electrical properties of CuInx CryGa1 − x − ySe2 are highly dependent on the Cr content and results show these materials as promising dopants for the fabrication thin film solar cells. The CIGS nano-precursor powder was initially synthesized via an autoclave method, and then converted into thin films over transparent substrates. Both crystalline precursor p…
Formation of nanosized strontium substituted hydroxyapatites
2012
Incorporation of specific elements into calcium phosphates offers the combination of a bioactive material and a therapeutic effect. This is important for improving the integration of implants as well as treating medical conditions. Strontium is a suitable candidate and displays the ability to stimulate bone growth and reducing bone resorption. This study investigated the formation of strontium carbonated hydroxyapatite nanoparticles from an amorphous phase. Crystallization of carbonated hydroxyapatite occurred at 585 o C, but samples with an intended 25% and 75% replacement of calcium with strontium crystallized at 624 o C. Heat treatment at the crystallization temperature revealed that str…
State of the art and prospects for halide perovskite nanocrystals
2021
Financiado para publicación en acceso aberto: Universidade de Vigo/CISUG Metal-halide perovskites have rapidly emerged as one of the most promising materials of the 21st century, with many exciting properties and great potential for a broad range of applications, from photovoltaics to optoelectronics and photocatalysis. The ease with which metal-halide perovskites can be synthesized in the form of brightly luminescent colloidal nanocrystals, as well as their tunable and intriguing optical and electronic properties, has attracted researchers from different disciplines of science and technology. In the last few years, there has been a significant progress in the shape-controlled synthesis of …
Purcell Enhancement and Wavelength Shift of Emitted Light by CsPbI3 Perovskite Nanocrystals Coupled to Hyperbolic Metamaterials
2020
Manipulation of the exciton emission rate in nanocrystals of lead halide perovskites (LHPs) was demonstrated by means of coupling of excitons with a hyperbolic metamaterial (HMM) consisting of alternating thin metal (Ag) and dielectric (LiF) layers. Such a coupling is found to induce an increase of the exciton radiative recombination rate by more than a factor of three due to the Purcell effect when the distance between the quantum emitter and HMM is nominally as small as 10 nm, which coincides well with the results of our theoretical analysis. Besides, an effect of the coupling-induced long wavelength shift of the exciton emission spectrum is detected and modeled. These results can be of i…
Manipulation of emitted light by structured lead halide perovskite nanocrystals for photonics applications
2021
Historically, active materials in photonic integrated circuits (PICs) have been implemented using III-V semiconductors, glasses, and ferroelectrics doped with rare-earth ions. However, there is a low-cost alternative based on (nano)materials synthesized using colloidal chemistry techniques. Their use in colloidal suspensions allows for the easy integration into any optical architecture via coating or printing techniques. The structure of perovskite nanocrystals (PNCs) are compounds with general formula ABX3, being A an inorganic or organic bulky cation, B a metal cation such as Pb2+ or Sn2+ and X the halide anion. In this context, all inorganic CsPbX3 (with X = Cl, Br, I) PNCs have recently…
Optoelectronic devices based on caesium lead halide perovskite nanocrystals
2020
Optical Amplification in Hollow-Core Negative-Curvature Fibers Doped with Perovskite CsPbBr
2019
We report a hollow-core negative-curvature fiber (HC-NCF) optical signal amplifier fabricated by the filling of the air microchannels of the fiber with all-inorganic CsPbBr3 perovskite nanocrystals (PNCs). The optimum fabrication conditions were found to enhance the optical gain, up to +3 dB in the best device. Experimental results were approximately reproduced by a gain assisted mechanism based on the nonlinear optical properties of the PNCs, indicating that signal regeneration can be achieved under low pump powers, much below the threshold of stimulated emission. The results can pave the road for new functionalities of the HC-NCF with PNCs, such as optical amplification, nonlinear frequen…
Optical hybrid nanocomposite sensors for selective explosive detection
2022
