Tutkielman tarkoituksena on selvittää, minkälaisia ovat ne ikääntyneet työkyvyttömät työvoimatoimiston asiakkaat, jotka ovat pudonneet työn ja eläkemahdollisuuden väliin. Miten he ovat siihen tilanteeseen joutuneet ja miten he itse kokevat tilanteensa? Ovatko he tehneet omia valintoja vai ovatko valinnat olleet pakkotilanteita, ns. "pakkorakoja?" Tutkimus selvittää myös, miten palvelujärjestelmä on toiminut ja miten väliinputoajat kokevat työhallinnon palvelut. Tutkielman viitekehys on ihmisarvon ja kunnioituksen näkökulma. In this chapter, we present the narrative approach as applied in the field of professional learning. The specific aim is to present the methodological opportunities and concerns it raises in research on professional identity within the sociocultural frames of work environments. We utilise examples from empirical studies that have employed a range of narrative methods to collect and analyse datasets. The datasets include individuals’ written and spoken narratives, encompassing the told experiences of their identities, and the meanings underlying these. Story beats in videogames as value-driven choice-based unit operations

We present a framework of story beats, defined as microunits of dramatic action, as a tool for the ludonarrative analysis of videogames. First, we explain the Goal - Action - Reaction - Outcome model of the story beat. Then, we present six types of story beats, Action, Interaction, Inaction, Mental, Emotion, and Sensory, providing videogame examples for each category. In the second half of the paper, we contextualise this framework in the classic game studies theory of videogame narrative and player action: unit operations, gamic action, anatomy of choice, and game design patterns, wrapping it up in the most recent trends in cognitive narratology. Objectives To examine how gender functions in the narrative construction of dual career styles, and how these styles impact the (dis)continuation of a dual career pathway. Design Longitudinal qualitative study. Method Life story interviews with 18 talented Finnish athletes (10 cis women, 8 cis men) at four points in time – when they averaged 16, 17, 19, and 20 years of age – followed by an integrative narrative-discursive analysis.
