Considering the most recent research on the condition of youth and the experiences of young people related to the pandemic time, this contribution intends to show an empirical research conducted through the phenomenological method with 190 male and female students, aged between 18 and 30, from the Primary Education Sciences courses at the University of Palermo. This paper examines the relationship between filiation, affiliation and writing in Crossing the River. First, it examines the diversity of literary genres incorporated, revisited and juxtaposed in a novel often defined by its polyphonic structure. This analysis leads to a study of the ways in which family ties, and particularly the links between parents and children, are staged in the text through a complex pattern of repetitions and inversions. The echoes which connect, and sometimes oppose, the various parts of the novel suggest that repetition and inversion are the tools through which family identity is constructed throughout the novel. This article examines how three South African novelists, Margie Orford, Lauren Beukes and Henrietta Rose-Innes, use crime fiction to write their country. After a brief survey of the rapid development of crime fiction in South Africa and of the critical response it received, the article proposes a reading of Like Clockwork, Zoo City and Nineveh, whereby their respective contribution to crime fiction displays three major features : first, Orford’s novel chimes in with generic conventions ; second, Beukes’s novel combines features borrowed from both crime fiction and science fiction ; and last, Rose-Innes’s novel displaces the detective story narrative into a context where « murder » is invest…

While many theories have guided research Information and Communication Technologies for Development (ICT4D), we are yet to construct a clear and coherent narrative that would help us answer the question of how ICT fosters development in underdeveloped communities. Affective Estrangement and Ecological Destruction in TV Crime Series Fortitude

Koistinen and Mäntymäki examine how graphic violence evokes affect in the context of ecological destruction in the UK-produced TV crime fiction series Fortitude (2015–17). They argue that the series mobilises generic exchange by incorporating speculative elements into a traditional crime narrative structure, thereby creating space for affective estrangement. Emotionally loaded identity and agency in Finnish academic work

This narrative study investigated identity, agency and emotions, amongst an under-researched academic group – those without PhDs with primary responsibility for teaching, who are also expected to do research. In this interview-based paper, we examine the experience of such Finnish academics in a research-intensive university. Thematic and then narrative approaches were employed. The findings demonstrated five narratives which indicated both balanced and tensioned relations as regards academic identity, with variable perceptions of agency and emotions embedded. Teachers as writing students: narratives of professional development in a leisure-time creative writing community

The authors explored five in-service teachers’ experiences of professional development (PD) in Studies in Writing (30 ECTS programme at a Finnish open university) they participated in during their leisure time. Data consist of the teachers’ creative writings and semi-structured interviews. Reflexive thematic analysis was employed to holistically determine how the participants associated the creative writing community with their PD. The following themes were created: (1) Me as a writer, (2) Teaching and pedagogy, and (3) Writing and emotions.
