Milan Leščák (1940–2022) – distinguished Slovak ethnologist and folklorist; he lectured at Comenius University in Bratislava and established the Department of Folklore and Regional Studies at Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra. Between 1963–1998 he worked at the Institute of Ethnology and Social Anthropology at the Slovak Academy of Sciencies, and between 1998–2006 he performed the function of the Chair of the Department of Ethnology of the Faculty of Arts at Comenius University in Bratislava. He was also the Chief Editor of the journal Slovenský Národopis, and the co-founder of the film festival Ethnofilm Czadca.

Izbēgušo vergu naratīvi ir izveidojuši nozīmīgu pamatu 19. gadsimta Afro-Amerikāņu literatūrā, sniedzot vērtīgu attēlojumu par melnādaino vergu nepārtraukto cīņu dienvidu štatos, ar mērķi saglabāt identitāti un iegūt brīvību, tādējādi veicinot izpratni starp ziemeļu štata cilvēkiem par šaušalīgajiem notikumiem, kas norisinās verdzības iestādēs. Reading autobiography as a performative act enables for the analysis of processes involved in constructing the self. It provides a space for analysing the ways in which gender, nationality, and other social locations of the subject are negotiated. In this article, I read the famous Finnish nineteenth-century playwright and author Minna Canth’s concise autobiography, focusing on various locations of the autobiographical subject in this rather laconic matter-of-fact text. My reading follows current trends in feminist autobiographical theorising as well as feminist politics of reading. To stay or to leave? Career story models of Finnish sports graduates

Previous research has revealed the challenges of sports graduates. Of particular concern is the question of how sports graduates navigate these difficulties in the job market. This study sought to understand the modern careers of sports graduates by describing different career story models among sports degree graduates. Life story data collection was employed to capture the various influences affecting career paths. The data consisted of 59 career life stories collected from Finnish sports degree graduates who were recruited through an open writing invitation. Data were analysed with the narrative method. What do we talk about when we talk about 'slave narratives?' African American slave narratives have been a staple of American literary studies over the past decades. The narratives of Frederick Douglass, Harriet Jacobs and other ex-slaves have been recovered, anthologized and discussed by eminent critics such as Marion Wilson Starling, Henry Louis Gates Jr., Frances Smith Foster and William L. Andrews. For all its ubiquity, however, the generic label 'slave narrative' has been used in many different ways by specialists of African American literature. Narrative inquiry and historical skills. A study in teacher training

This paper addresses narrative thinking and literacy levels in future primary school teachers in Spain. It uses the study of a historical synthesis of one of the main narratives in Spanish history: the Christian expansion through Muslim territories in the Iberian Peninsula in the Middle Ages. Accounts by 283 students of the degree in elementary school teaching at the universities of Valencia and Murcia were studied. The aim was to ascertain the students' discursive abilities with respect to their historical thinking skills. The results reveal poor narrative skills in future teachers and a very low level of historical literacy.
