Representations of nationality in Carl Barks' Lost in the Andes and Voodoo hoodoo
2013
Tutkielman tarkoituksena oli selvittää, miten kansallisuus ja ei-amerikkalaiset hahmot on esitetty Carl Barksin ankkatarinoissa Lost in the Andes ja Voodoo Hoodoo. Tutkielman perustana toimivat Scott McCloudin ja Juha Herkmanin sarjakuvia käsittelevät teokset sekä kansallisten stereotypioiden tutkimus. Sarjakuvat analysoitiin hyödyntäen McCloudin ja Herkmanin määritelmiä sarjakuvien eri elementeistä. Tutkimuksessa kävi ilmi, että paikalliset, ei-yhdysvaltalaiset hahmot on kuvattu yksipuolisesti, miesvaltaisesti ja muutamaa piirrettä korostaen kunkin kansallisuuden kohdalla. Esilletulleita seikkoja olivat muunmuassa hahmojen vaatetus, kasvonpiirteet, luonne sekä käyttäytyminen. Nämä piirteet…

This study’s aim was to develop a measurement tool based on international consensus that measures perceptions of health promotion within sports clubs. It is grounded in the settings-based approach and builds on theory from previous works expanding their context and knowledge. An online, three-round international Delphi study was cond…
