EFFECT OF SUBMARINE ACOUSTIC NOISE IN JUVENILE SEA BREAM (SPARUS AURATA) AND MUSSELS (MYTILUS GALLOPROVINCIALIS)

2018

The earth’ resources are running out, the population will increase and further sources will be needed. These, were found in the deep ocean. To date the mining activities (Deep Sea Mining, DSM) they have not started. One impact of DSM could be underwater noise. Considering the noise frequencies of anthropic activities in the ocean, and the European directive on underwater noise control, we stressed the animals with four acoustic 1/3 band noises around: 63 Hz, 125 Hz, 500 Hz, 1kHz. We study the effects on Sparus aurata juveniles, and on Mytilus galloprovincialis. We will analyse behavioural., molecular and biochemical responses Los recursos de la tierra se están agotando, la población aumenta…

Community response to environmental noise in Valencia

1990

Abstract In Valencia, Spain, 263 residents were interviewed at five different locations in order to investigate the subjective response to environmental noise in urban areas. External noise levels were measured over five consecutive days at each site. Noise levels were high in two of the selected sites ( L eq 24h about 75 dBA) and lower in the other two ( L eq 24h about 65 dBA). The fifth location had a night noise problem because of the presence of many leisure places (pubs, restaurants, etc.). The scores of the sample with their satisfaction with their neighbourhood were notably higher in the quiet than in the noisy areas (83% and 64% respectively). Road traffic and pub noise (in the fift…

Effets du bruit marin sur le changement des poissons sparidés juvéniles entre les espèces et les stades de développement

2023

International audience; Marine noise is an emerging pollutant inducing a variety of negative impacts on many animal taxa, including fish. Fish population persistence and dynamics rely on the supply of early life stages, which are often very sensitive to disturbance. Impacts of marine noise pollution (MNP) on juvenile fish have rarely been investigated in temperate regions. This is particularly true for the Mediterranean Sea, which is considered as an MNP hotspot due to intensive maritime traffic. In this study, we investigate the relationship between MNP related to boat traffic and (i) assemblage structure and (ii) the density of juvenile fishes (post-settlers at different stages) belonging…
