Determinant factors in the expression of the pronominal subject in spoken Spanish of Valencia

En el presente artículo se estudian los factores determinantes de la presencia del sujeto pronominal en el área metropolitana de Valencia (España). Analizamos fragmentos de habla de un corpus de 72 entrevistas pertenecientes al corpus PRESEVAL, adscrito al grupo PRESEEA. Los resultados muestran la baja tendencia a utilizar la forma expresa (21,8 %). La aparición del sujeto pronominal se ve favorecida por la persona gramatical, muy especialmente la primera del singular, y la clase semántica de los verbos, sobre todo aquellos que indican estados mentales y actividades. Quantifying residential PV feed-in power in low voltage grids based on satellite-derived irradiance data with application to power flow calculations

AbstractA scheme using satellite-derived irradiance measurements to model the feed-in power of residential photovoltaic (PV) systems in a low voltage distribution grid is described. It is validated against smart meter measurements from a test site with 12 residential PV systems in the city of Ulm, Germany, during May 2013 to December 2014. The PV feed-in power is simulated in a 15-min time resolution based on irradiance data derived from Meteosat Second Generation satellite images by the physically based retrieval scheme Heliosat-4. Abstract To increase the power of the Bonferroni–Holm procedure several modified Bonferroni procedures have been proposed (for example, Hochberg, 1988. Biometrika 75, 800–802; Hommel, 1988. Biometrika 75, 383–386), which are based on Simes’ global test (Simes, 1986. Biometrika 73, 751–754). Kayne's model of Case and Finnish nominal phrases

The standard view concerning Case assignment or valuation is that Case is valued to determiner phrases (DPs) in syntax. Recently, Kayne has proposed an alternative model, in which Case is valued to lexical elements rather than to phrases. This article cites several facts from Finnish in support of this model. A detailed Kaynean model of Case is developed. According to this model, abstract Case is valued to lexical elements by the highest ranking c-commanding Case assigner when each phase (CP,vP) is sealed, where ranking is based on a particular Case Hierarchy and a simple notion of locality.
