Hunter syndrome is a rare X-linked recessive disorder caused by deficiency of the lysosomal enzyme iduronate-2-sulphatase, leading to progressive accumulation of a substance called glycosaminoglycans in nearly all cell types, tissues, and organs. Hunter syndrome presents with facial dysmorphism, airway diseases, skeletal defects, cardiomyopathies, and neuropsychiatric manifestations. Mental subnormality is a cardinal feature in Hunter syndrome. This is a progressive cognitive decline that is not amenable to enzyme replacement therapy. Due to progressive cognitive decline, training the children to improve the adaptive functioning is a challenge that creates immense stress for the caregivers.…

Abstract Abstract 3122 Poster Board III-59 Objective The Registry of Haematological Malignancies (HM) has been established on January 1st, 1980 in the department of Côte d'Or (pop 500 000 inhabitants). It was the first specialized registry in haematology in the world. During the course of 25 years (1980-2004), 5026 cases of HM were recorded including 1553 Myeloid malignancies (MM) in which entities not initially considered as malignant were taken in account such as Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) and some Myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN). Publisher Summary This chapter compares different approaches to computing Value-at-Risk (VaR) for heavy tailed return series. Each model has been submitted to a backtest analysis. The most representative asset returns of the Italian stock market and the exchange rates for the major currencies are used. The results obtained confirm that when the percentiles are below 5%, the hypothesis of normality of the conditional return distribution determines intervals of confidence whose forecast ability is low. Multi-Resolution Analysis and Fractional Quantum Hall Effect: an Equivalence Result

In this paper we prove that any multi-resolution analysis of $\Lc^2(\R)$ produces, for some values of the filling factor, a single-electron wave function of the lowest Landau level (LLL) which, together with its (magnetic) translated, gives rise to an orthonormal set in the LLL. We also give the inverse construction. Moreover, we extend this procedure to the higher Landau levels and we discuss the analogies and the differences between this procedure and the one previously proposed by J.-P. Antoine and the author.

Vanadium, a naturally occurring element widely distributed in soil, water and air, has received considerable interest because its compounds are often used in different applications, from industry to medicine. While the possible medical use of vanadium compounds is promising, its potential harmful effects on living organisms are still unclear. Here, for the first time, we provide a toxicological profile induced by vanadium on Paracentrotus lividus sea urchin embryos, reporting an integrated and comparative analysis of the detected effects reflecting vanadium-toxicity. Inner functions and local shape of orthonormal wavelets

Abstract Conditions characterizing all orthonormal wavelets of L 2 ( R ) are given in terms of suitable orthonormal bases (ONBs) related with the translation and dilation operators. A particular choice of the ONBs, the so-called Haar bases, leads to new methods for constructing orthonormal wavelets from certain families of Hardy functions. Inner functions and the corresponding backward shift invariant subspaces articulate the structure of these families. The new algorithms focus on the local shape of the wavelet.
An invariant analytic orthonormalization procedure with an application to coherent states

We discuss a general strategy which produces an orthonormal set of vectors, stable under the action of a given set of unitary operators Aj, j=1,2,n, starting from a fixed normalized vector in H and from a set of unitary operators. We discuss several examples of this procedure and, in particular, we show how a set of coherentlike vectors can be produced and in which condition over the lattice spacing this can be done. © 2007 American Institute of Physics.

Celano’s notion of a “pre-convention” is grounded in the opposition between two allegedly different kinds of normative behaviour: observing a “rule” and conforming to a “norm”. This opposition plays a central role in Celano’s paper, and marks a crucial point in his intellectual trajectory. Nevertheless, it remains largely implicit. In this paper, I try to make it fully explicit, giving a more precise characterisation of both kinds of normative behaviour. I also focus on the importance of distinguishing between them, express some conjectures (or wishes) regarding Celano’s future research, and propose a (marginal) criticism.

We analyze the relation between subnormality and nilpotence, the subnormal joint property, some criteria of subnormality, the norm and the Wielandt subgroup in the case of algebraic groups defined over an arbitrary field.
