Diffractive scattering at next-to-leading order in the dipole picture
2023
We discuss recent developments towards next-to-leading order (NLO) accuracy in the dipole picture. We review recent NLO results for exclusive vector meson production and diffractive structure functions, and discuss how it is becoming possible to describe both inclusive and exclusive DIS data simultaneously within the Color Glass Condensate framework at NLO accuracy. These developments will make it possible to probe the gluon saturation phenomena in detail especially when nuclear-DIS data from the EIC become available.
Solving the Balitsky-Kovchegov equation at next to leading order accuracy
2015
We present the first numerical solution to the next to leading order Balitsky-Kovchegov (BK) equation in coordinate space in the large-$N_\mathrm{c}$ limit. In addition to the dipole operator we also solve the evolution of the "conformal dipole" for which the conformal invariance breaking double logarithmic term is absent from the evolution equation. The NLO corrections are shown to slow down the evolution. We show that the solution depends strongly on the details of the initial condition, and that the solution to the equation is not positive definite with all initial conditions relevant for phenomenological applications.
$D_{s0}^{\ast\pm}(2317)$ and $KD$ scattering from $B^0_s$ decay
2015
We study the $\bar{B}_s^0\to D_s^-(DK)^+$ weak decay, and look at the $DK$ invariant mass distribution with the aim of obtaining relevant information on the nature of the $D_{s0}^{\ast+}(2317)$ resonance. We make a simulation of the experiment using the actual mass of the $D_{s0}^{\ast+}(2317)$ resonance and recent lattice QCD relevant parameters of the $KD$ scattering amplitude. We then solve the inverse problem of obtaining the $KD$ amplitude from these synthetic data, to which we have added a 5\% or 10\% error. We prove that one can obtain from these "data" the existence of a bound $KD$ state, the $KD$ scattering length and effective range, and most importantly, the $KD$ probability in t…
Femtoscopic correlation function for the $T_{cc}(3875)^+$ state
2023
We have conducted a study of the femtoscopic correlation functions for the $D^0D^{*+}$ and $D^+D^{*0}$ channels that build the $T_{cc}$ state. We develop a formalism that allows us to factorize the scattering amplitudes outside the integrals in the formulas, and the integrals involve the range of the strong interaction explicitly. For a source of size of 1 fm, we find values for the correlation functions of the $D^0 D^{*+}$ and $D^+D^{*0}$ channels at the origin around 30 and 2.5, respectively, and we see these observables converging to unity already for relative momenta of the order of 200 MeV. We conduct tests to see the relevance of the different contributions to the correlation function…
Jet momentum broadening during initial stages in heavy-ion collisions
2023
We study the jet quenching parameter $\hat q$ in the initial pre-equilibrium stages of heavy-ion collisions using the QCD kinetic theory description of the anisotropic quark-gluon plasma. This allows us to smoothly close the gap in the literature between the early glasma stage of the collision and the onset of hydrodynamics. We find that the pre-hydrodynamic evolution of $\hat q$ during the bottom-up kinetic scenario shows little sensitivity to the initial conditions, jet energies and models of the transverse momentum cutoff. We also observe that, similarly to the glasma case, the jet quenching parameter is enhanced along the beam axis as compared to the transverse direction during most of …
The eta-photon transition form factor
2012
The eta-photon transition form factor is evaluated in a formalism based on a phenomenological description at low values of the photon virtuality, and a QCD-based description at high photon virtualities, matching at a scale $Q_{0}^{2}$. The high photon virtuality description makes use of a Distribution Amplitude calculated in the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model with Pauli-Villars regularization at the matching scale $Q_{0}^{2}$, and QCD evolution from $Q_{0}^{2}$ to higher values of $Q^{2}$. A good description of the available data is obtained. The analysis indicates that the recent data from the BaBar collaboration on pion and eta transition form factor can be well reproduced, if a small contribut…
Bayesian inference of the fluctuating proton shape in DIS and hadronic collisions
2022
We determine the likelihood distribution for the model parameters describing the event-by-event fluctuating proton geometry at small $x$ by performing a Bayesian analysis within the Color Glass Condensate framework. The exclusive $\mathrm{J}/\psi$ production data from HERA is found to constrain the model parameters well, and we demonstrate that complementary constraints can be obtained from simulations of Pb+Pb collisions at the LHC.
Higher-order corrections to exclusive heavy vector meson production
2021
We present results for higher-order corrections to exclusive $\mathrm{J}/\psi$ production. This includes the first relativistic correction of order $v^2$ in quark velocity, and next-to-leading order corrections in $\alpha_s$ for longitudinally polarized production. The relativistic corrections are found to be important for a good description of the HERA data, especially at small values of the photon virtuality. The next-to-leading order results for longitudinal production are evaluated numerically. We also demonstrate how the vector meson production provides complementary information to the structure functions for extracting the initial condition for the small-$x$ evolution of the dipole-pr…
Predictions for 5.023 TeV Pb+Pb collisions at the LHC
2015
We compute predictions for various low-transverse-momentum bulk observables in $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 5.023$ TeV Pb+Pb collisions at the LHC from the event-by-event next-to-leading-order perturbative-QCD + saturation + viscous hydrodynamics ("EKRT") model. In particular, we consider the centrality dependence of charged hadron multiplicity, flow coefficients of the azimuth-angle asymmetries and correlations of event-plane angles. The centrality dependencies of the studied observables are predicted to be very similar to those at 2.76 TeV, and the magnitudes of the flow coefficients and event-plane angle correlations are predicted to be close to those at 2.76 TeV. The flow coefficients may, however,…
$\bar K$ induced formation of the $f_0(980)$ and $a_0(980)$ resonances on proton targets
2015
We perform a calculation of the cross section for nine reactions induced by $\bar K$ scattering on protons. The reactions studied are $K^-p \to \Lambda \pi^+ \pi^-$, $K^-p \to \Sigma^0 \pi^+ \pi^-$, $K^-p \to \Lambda \pi^0 \eta$, $K^-p \to \Sigma^0 \pi^0 \eta$, $K^-p \to \Sigma^+ \pi^- \eta$, $\bar K^0 p \to \Lambda \pi^+ \eta$, $\bar K^0 p \to \Sigma^0 \pi^+ \eta$, $\bar K^0 p \to \Sigma^+ \pi^+ \pi^-$, $\bar K^0 p \to \Sigma^+ \pi^0 \eta$. We find that in the reactions producing $\pi^+ \pi^-$ a clear peak for the $f_0(980)$ resonance is found, while no trace of $f_0(500)$ appears. Similarly, in the cases of $\pi \eta$ production a strong peak is found for the $a_0(980)$ resonance, with th…
