Nuclear ground-state properties in a relativistic Meson-Field theory
1986
We investigate the ability of a relativistic Mean-Field theory to reproduce nuclear ground state properties by an exhaustive fit to experimental data. We find that the bulk properties of nuclei from16O to208Pb can be adjusted very well. There remain problems with level density and fluctuations in the charge density similar as in fits using the conventional Skyrme Hartree-Fock model.
The quadrupole moment of the neutron-halo nucleus 11Li
1995
The quadrupole moment ratio of 9Li and 11Li was measured by a combination of in-beam laser induced nuclear polarization and β-NMR in LiNbO3. The result |Q(11Li)/Q(9Li)| = 1.14(16) is consistent with cluster models describing 11Li as composed of a 9Li core and a far extended halo of two loosely bound neutrons.
Fusion reaction Ca48+Bk249 leading to formation of the element Ts ( Z=117 )
2019
The heaviest currently known nuclei, which have up to 118 protons, have been produced in 48Ca induced reactions with actinide targets. Among them, the element tennessine (Ts), which has 117 protons, has been synthesized by fusing 48Ca with the radioactive target 249Bk, which has a half-life of 327 d. The experiment was performed at the gas-filled recoil separator TASCA. Two long and two short α decay chains were observed. The long chains were attributed to the decay of 294Ts. The possible origin of the short-decay chains is discussed in comparison with the known experimental data. They are found to fit with the decay chain patterns attributed to 293Ts. The present experimental results confi…
The new nuclide225U
1989
In the bombardment of a 270μg/cm 2 180Hf target with48 Ca projectiles at a primary beam energy of E/A=4.24 MeV/u the new nuclide225U was produced. The experiment was performed at the velocity filter SHIP. 225U was found to decay by α emission with Eα=(7880 ±20) keV (≈90%), (7830±20) keV (≈10%) and has a half-life ofT 1/2=(80 −20 +40 ms).
Pre- and post-scission neutron emission in the reaction180Hf(40Ar, fission) atE lab=216 MeV
1996
Neutron and fission fragment spectra following the180Hf(40Ar,f) reaction atE lab=216MeV were measured. The following neutron total, pre- and post-scission multiplicities were extracted:M tot =7.2±1.3,M pre =2.7±0.9,M post =4.5±0.9. The average temperature parameters of the neutron spectra areT pre=(1.63±0.16) MeV andT post=(1.14±0.26)MeV. The mean total kinetic energy of the fission fragments is TKE=(166±10) MeV and the measured width is σTKE=17.3MeV. The width of the fragment mass distribution is σ A =18.3u. The same reaction was analyzed using a modified statistical code which includes nuclear dissipation effects and particle and γ-ray emission in the equilibrium compound nucleus state an…
Beta decay of very neutron-rich110Mo studied at the new IGISOL facility
1994
The decay of the new activity110Mo (t1/2=0.30(4).s) has been observed at the new IGISOL separator. Multiscaled singles,β-γ-t and γ-y-t coincidences were recorded. The decay scheme suggests Iπ=2+ for the ground state of the daughter nucleus110Tc. Three 1+ levels are fed with logft values below 5, indicating no drastic change among Mo and Ru decays at the middle of the neutron shell. This experiment confirms the expectation that the new IGISOL facility will allow the identification of one or two new more neutron-rich isotopes per element in this region.
First decay scheme of 113Tc and identification of 113Ru m
1998
Very neutron–rich fission products of the mass chain A=113 obtained from the IGISOL on–line mass separator have been investigated by γγ coincidence techniques and γ-spectra multiscaling. Gamma–rays following β–decay of 113Tc have been observed for the first time and a new 0.5 s isomeric state has been found in 113Ru.
First observation of the beta decay of117Pd and the discovery of a new isotope119Pd
1991
In this paper we wish to report the first direct observations of the beta decays of117Pd and of a new isotope119Pd. The measuredβ-half-life is 4.3±0.3 s for117Pd. For119Pd, the existence of two beta-decaying states with the same half-life but of opposite parity cannot be excluded. The measured half-life for119Pd is 0.92±0.13 s. The observed beta half-lifes are in good agreement with the QRPA predictions. The observed level structure of117Ag and119Ag are discussed in the frame of the level systematics of the known odd Ag isotopes closer to stability.
Shape-changing particle decays ofBi185and structure of the lightest odd-mass Bi isotopes
2004
Proton and alpha decay of the proton-rich nuclide Bi-185 has been restudied in more detail in the complete fusion reaction Nb-93(Mo-95, 3n)Bi-185 at the velocity filter SHIP. The observed decay pat ...
Neutron capture cross sections for neutron-rich isotopes
1985
Average continuum (Hauser-Feshbach) and resonance (Breit-Wigner) neutron capture rates for neutron-rich isotopes, determined on the basis of recent experimental nuclear physics input parameters, are compared to earlier theoretical reaction rates commonly used in astrophysical model computations.
