Three-body final state interaction in η→ 3π updated

2017

In view of the recent high-statistic KLOE data for the η→π+π−π0 decay, a new determination of the quark mass double ratio has been done. Our approach relies on a dispersive model that takes into account rescattering effects between three pions via subenergy unitarity. The latter is essential to reproduce the Dalitz plot distribution. A simultaneous description of the KLOE and WASA-at-COSY data is achieved in terms of just two real parameters. From a global fit, we determine Q=21.6±1.1. The predicted slope parameter for the neutral channel α=−0.025±0.004 is in reasonable agreement with the PDG average value.

The size of and physics beyond the Standard Model

Abstract We analyse the allowed range of values of χ , both in the Standard Model and in models with new physics, pointing out that a relatively large value of χ , e.g., of order λ , is only possible in models where the unitarity of the 3 × 3 Cabibbo–Kobayashi–Maskawa matrix is violated through the introduction of extra Q = 2 / 3 quarks. We study the interesting case where the extra quark is an isosinglet, determining the allowed range for χ and the effect of a large χ on various low-energy observables, such as CP asymmetries in B meson decays. Production anisotropy of h±, π± and p/p¯ at high-pT in Pb–Pb collisions at sNN=2.76TeV

Abstract The high- P T particle production anisotropy in Pb–Pb collisions at s N N = 2.76 TeV studied by the ALICE experiment is presented. The event plane and the four-particle cumulant method are used to extract the ν 2 and ν 3 flow coefficients of unidentified charged hadrons, pions and protons out to p T = 20 GeV / c . The observed non-zero values of the elliptic flow in the high- p T region where the collective phenomena are negligible are discussed.

Prospects of Medium Tomography using 2-,3- and 4-Particle Correlations for a (semi-)hard Trigger

Hard partons propagating through hot and dense matter lose energy, leading to the observed depletion of hard hadron spectra in nucleus nucleus collision as compared to scaled proton proton collisions. This lost energy has to be redistributed in the medium due to the conservation of energy, which is manifest in the p_T dependence of the angular correlation pattern of hadrons associate with a (semi-) hard trigger. While at low p_T a splitting of a broad peak is observed, at high p_T the structure shows vacuum width, albeit with reduced yield. Multivariate searches for single top quark production with the D0 detector

We present a search for electroweak production of single top quarks in the s-channel (p-pbar -> t bbar + X) and t-channel (p-pbar -> tq bbar + X) modes. We have analyzed 230 pb^(-1) of data collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider at a center-of-mass energy of sqrt(s) = 1.96 TeV. Two separate analysis methods are used: neural networks and a cut-based analysis. No evidence for a single top quark signal is found. We set 95% confidence level upper limits on the production cross sections using Bayesian statistics, based on event counts and binned likelihoods formed from the neural network output. Search for single top quark production inpp¯collisions ats=1.96  TeVin the missing transverse energy plus jets topology

We report a search for single top quark production with the CDF II detector using 2.1 fb{sup -1} of integrated luminosity of pp collisions at {radical}(s)=1.96 TeV. The data selected consist of events characterized by large energy imbalance in the transverse plane and hadronic jets, and no identified electrons and muons, so the sample is enriched in W{yields}{tau}{nu} decays. In order to suppress backgrounds, additional kinematic and topological requirements are imposed through a neural network, and at least one of the jets must be identified as a b quark jet. Search for flavor changing neutral currents via quark–gluon couplings in single top quark production using 2.3 fb−1 of pp¯ collisions

We present a search for flavor changing neutral currents via quark-gluon couplings in a sample of single top quark final states corresponding to 2.3 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity collected with the DO detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We select events containing a single top quark candidates with an additional jet, and obtain separation between signal and background using Bayesian neural networks. We find consistency between background expectation and observed data, and set limits on flavor changing neutral current gluon couplings of the top quark to up quarks (tgu) and charm quarks (tgc). The cross section limits at the 95% C.L. are sigma(tgu) gu) gc) < 3.9 x 10(-3).

Search for single top quark production in pp¯ collisions at s=1.96 TeV

We have analyzed 230 pb(-1) of data collected with the DO detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV and find no evidence for a single top quark signal. Light Quark Yukawa Couplings and the W ± h Charge Asymmetry

Abstract I review the recent theory progress on possibly measuring the light quark couplings, emphasizing the distinction between direct and indirect measurements. I highlight the importance of the W ± h charge asymmetry measurement as a direct probe of enhanced light quark Yukawa couplings. I propose the W ± h → l ± l ± q q ′ ν ν final state as a promising channel for measuring the charge asymmetry. This clean, same-sign dilepton final state should reach statistical discovery sensitivity in each W ± h charge mode with 300 fb -1 of Large Hadron Collider luminosity, and affords an impressive sub-percent statistical accuracy with the anticipated 3 ab -1 high luminosity upgrade. Search for W′→tb resonances with left- and right-handed couplings to fermions

We present a search for the production of a heavy gauge boson, W', that decays to third-generation quarks, by the D0 Collaboration in ppbar collisions at sqrt(s)= 1.96 TeV. We set 95% confidence level upper limits on the production cross section times branching fraction. For the first time, we set limits for arbitrary combinations of left- and right-handed couplings of the W' boson to fermions. For couplings with the same strength as the standard model W boson, we set the following limits for M(W') > m(nu_R): M(W')>863 GeV for purely left-handed couplings, M(W')>885 GeV for purely right-handed couplings, and M(W')>916 GeV if both left- and right-handed couplings are present.
