Radiative neutrino mass in 331 scheme
2014
We propose a new radiative mechanism for neutrino mass generation based on the 3-3-1 electroweak gauge group. Lepton number is a symmetry of the Yukawa sector but spontaneously broken in the gauge sector. As a result light Majorana masses arise from neutral gauge boson exchange at the one-loop level. In addition to the isosinglet neutrinos which may be produced at the LHC through the extended gauge boson "portals", the model contains new isosinglet quarks which can also lie at the TeV scale and provide a plethora of collider phenomena.
Relating quarks and leptons with the T7 flavour group
2015
In this letter we present a model for quarks and leptons based on T7 as flavour symmetry, predicting a canonical mass relation between charged leptons and down-type quarks proposed earlier. Neutrino masses are generated through a Type-I seesaw mechanism, with predicted correlations between the atmospheric mixing angle and neutrino masses. Compatibility with oscillation results lead to lower bounds for the lightest neutrino mass as well as for the neutrinoless double beta decay rates, even for normal neutrino mass hierarchy.
Non-perturbatively renormalised light quark masses from a lattice simulation with Nf=2
2006
Abstract We present results for the light quark masses obtained from a lattice QCD simulation with N f = 2 degenerate Wilson dynamical quark flavours. The sea quark masses of our lattice, of spacing a ≃ 0.06 fm , are relatively heavy, i.e., they cover the range corresponding to 0.60 ≲ M P / M V ≲ 0.75 . After implementing the non-perturbative RI-MOM method to renormalise quark masses, we obtain m ud MS ¯ ( 2 GeV ) = 4.3 ± 0.4 −0 +1.1 MeV , and m s MS ¯ ( 2 GeV ) = 101 ± 8 −0 +25 MeV , which are about 15% larger than they would be if renormalised perturbatively. In addition, we show that the above results are compatible with those obtained in a quenched simulation with a similar lattice.
Measurement of the electric charge of the top quark intt¯events
2014
We present a measurement of the electric charge of top quarks using t (t) over bar events produced in p (p) over bar collisions at the Tevatron. The analysis is based on fully reconstructed t (t) over bar pairs in lepton + jets final states. Using data corresponding to 5.3 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity, we exclude the hypothesis that the top quark has a charge of Q = -4/3e at a significance greater than 5 standard deviations. We also place an upper limit of 0.46 on the fraction of such quarks that can be present in an admixture with the standard model top quarks (Q = +2/3e) at a 95% confidence level.
Search for resonant top quark plus jet production intt¯+jetsevents with the ATLAS detector inppcollisions ats=7 TeV
2012
This paper presents a search for a new heavy particle produced in association with a top or antitop quark. Two models in which the new heavy particle is a color singlet or a color triplet are considered, decaying, respectively, to (t)over-barq or tq, leading to a resonance within the t(t)over-bar + jets signature. The full 2011 ATLAS pp collision data set from the LHC (4.7 fb(-1)) is used to search for t(t)over-bar events produced in association with jets, in which one of the W bosons from the top quarks decays leptonically and the other decays hadronically. The data are consistent with the Standard Model expectation, and a new particle with mass below 430 Gev for both W' boson and color tr…
Search for scalar top quark pair production in natural gauge mediated supersymmetry models with the ATLAS detector in pp collisions at s=7 TeV
2012
The results of a search for pair production of the lighter scalar partners of top quarks () in 2.05 fb−1 of pp collisions at TeV using the ATLAS experiment at the LHC are reported. Scalar top quar ...
Gluon polarization ine+e−→tt¯G
1997
We calculate the linear polarization of gluons radiated off top quarks produced in e{sup +}e{sup {minus}} annihilations. For typical top quark pair production energies at the Next Linear Collider the degree of linear polarization remains close to its soft gluon value of 100{percent} over almost the whole energy spectrum of the gluon. The massive quark results are compared with the corresponding results for the massless quark case. {copyright} {ital 1997} {ital The American Physical Society}
Measurement of the top quark mass in the lepton+jets channel using the ideogram method
2007
A measurement of the top quark mass using events with one charged lepton, missing transverse energy, and jets in the final state, collected by the D0 detector from p-pbar collisions at sqrt{s} = 1.96 TeV at the Fermilab Tevatron collider, is presented. A constrained fit is used to fully reconstruct the kinematics of the events. For every event a top quark mass likelihood is calculated taking into account all possible jet assignments and the probability that an event is signal or background. Lifetime-based identification of b jets is employed to enhance the separation between t-tbar signal and background from other physics processes and to improve the assignment of the observed jets to the q…
Model-independent measurement of t-channel single top quark production in pp¯ collisions at s=1.96 TeV
2011
We present a model-independent measurement of $t$-channel electroweak production of single top quarks in $\ppbar$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=1.96\;\rm TeV$. Using $5.4\;\rm fb^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity collected by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider, and selecting events containing an isolated electron or muon, missing transverse energy and one or two jets originating from the fragmentation of $b$ quarks, we measure a cross section $\sigma({\ppbar}{\rargap}tqb+X) = 2.90 \pm 0.59\;\rm (stat+syst)\; pb$ for a top quark mass of $172.5\;\rm GeV$. The probability of the background to fluctuate and produce a signal as large as the one observed is $1.6\times10^{-8}$, corresponding…
Search for single top quarks in the tau + jets channel using 4.8 fb−1 of pp¯ collision data
2010
We present the first direct search for single top quark production using tau leptons. The search is based on 4.8 fb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity collected in $p\bar{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}$=1.96 TeV with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. We select events with a final state including an isolated tau lepton, missing transverse energy, two or three jets, one or two of them $b$ tagged. We use a multivariate technique to discriminate signal from background. The number of events observed in data in this final state is consistent with the signal plus background expectation. We set in the tau+jets channel an upper limit on the single top quark cross section of \TauLimObs pb …
