Surface Flows of Soft Monopole Modes of 40Mg
2018
In order to explore the nature of collective modes in weakly bound nuclei, we have investigated surface flow patterns of isoscalar monopole modes in a shape-coexisting nucleus 40Mg. The calculations were done in a fully self-consistent continuum finite-amplitude-method quasiparticle-random-phase-approximation (FAM-QRPA) in a large deformed spatial mesh. Our results demonstrated that the transition current densities at surfaces are nontrivial and dependent on deformations. The toroidal mode is favorable in the oblate shape, demonstrating the geometric deformation effects on nuclear surface flows. The surface flow patterns become more complicated as excitation energies increase. peerReviewed
Enhanced Quadrupole and Octupole Strength in Doubly Magic ^{132}Sn.
2018
International audience; The first $2^+$ and $3^-$ states of the doubly magic nucleus $^{132}$Sn are populated via safe Coulomb excitation employing the recently commissioned HIE-ISOLDE accelerator at CERN in conjunction with the highly efficient MINIBALL array. The $^{132}$Sn ions are accelerated to an energy of 5.49 MeV/nucleon and impinged on a $^{206}$Pb target. Deexciting $\gamma$ rays from the low-lying excited states of the target and the projectile are recorded in coincidence with scattered particles. The reduced transition strengths are determined for the transitions $0_{g.s.}^+ \rightarrow 2_1^+$, $0_{g.s.}^+ \rightarrow 3_1^-$, and $2_1^+ \rightarrow 3_1^-$ in $^{132}$Sn. The res…
Reduced transition probabilities along the yrast line in 166W
2017
Lifetimes of excited states in the yrast band of the neutron-deficient nuclide 166W have been measured utilizing the DPUNS plunger device at the target position of the JUROGAM II γ -ray spectrometer in conjunction with the RITU gas-filled separator and the GREAT focal-plane spectrometer. Excited states in 166W were populated in the 92Mo(78Kr,4p) reaction at a bombarding energy of 380 MeV. The measurements reveal a low value for the ratio of reduced transitions probabilities for the lowest-lying transitions B(E2; 4+ → 2+)/B(E2; 2+ → 0+) = 0.33(5), compared with the expected ratio for an axially deformed rotor (B4/2 = 1.43). peerReviewed
Fine structure in a alpha decay of 188, 192Po
2003
The α decay of 188,192Po has been reexamined in order to probe the 0+ states in the daughter nuclei 184,188Pb that can be associated with coexisting spherical, oblate, and∕or prolate configurations. Improved values were measured for the excitation energy and the feeding α-decay intensity of the 0+2state in 184,188Pb and conflicting results on the 0+3 state in 188Pb were clarified. All known cases of fine structure in the α decay of the even-even Po nuclei are reviewed. The reduced α-decay width systematics combined with potential-energy-surface calculations confirm the onset of deformation in the ground state of the polonium nuclei around the neutron midshell. An isomeric state with a half-…
Precision measurements of proton emission from the ground states of 156Ta and 160Re
2011
The decays of the πd3/2 ground states of 156Ta and 160Re have been studied in detail using the GREAT spectrometer. More than 7000 160Re nuclei were produced in reactions of 290- and 300-MeV 58Ni ions with an isotopically enriched 106Cd target and separated in flight using the RITU separator. The proton and α decays of the πd3/2 level were confirmed and the half-life and branching ratios of this state were determined with improved precision to be t1/2=611±7 μs and bp=89±1% and bα=11±1%, respectively. The α-decay branch populated the ground state of 156Ta, allowing improved values for the proton-decay energy and half-life to be obtained (Ep=1011±5 keV; t1/2=106±4 ms). The β decay of this leve…
A Global DGLAP analysis of nuclear PDFs
2008
In this talk, we shortly report results from our recent global DGLAP analysis of nuclear parton distributions. This is an extension of our former EKS98-analysis improved with an automated χ2 minimization procedure and uncertainty estimates. Although our new analysis show no significant deviation from EKS98, a sign of a significantly stronger gluon shadowing could be seen in the RHIC BRAHMS data. nonPeerReviewed
Beta decay of neutron-rich 118Ag and 120Ag isotopes
2003
b decays of on-line mass-separated neutron-rich 118Ag and 120Ag isotopes have been studied by using b-g and g-g coincidence spectroscopy. Extended decay schemes to the 118,120Cd daughter nuclei have been constructed. The three-phonon quintuplet in 118Cd is completed by including a new level at 2023.0 keV, which is tentatively assigned the spin and parity of 24 1 . The intruder band in 118Cd is proposed up to the 41 level at 2322.4 keV. The measured b-decay half-life for the high-spin isomer of 120Ag is 0.4060.03 s. Candidates for the three-phonon states, as well as the lowest members of the intruder band in 120Cd, are also presented. These data support the coexistence of quadrupole anharmon…

Penning-trap mass measurements on 92, 94-98, 100Mo with JYFLTRAP
2012
Penning-trap measurements on stable 92, 94-98, 100Mo isotopes have been performed with relative accuracy of \ensuremath1⋅10−8\ensuremath1⋅10−8 with the JYFLTRAP Penning-trap mass spectrometer by using 85Rb as a reference. The Mo isotopes have been found to be about 3keV more bound than given in the Atomic Mass Evaluation 2003 (AME03). The results confirm that the discrepancy between the ISOLTRAP and JYFLTRAP data for 101-105Cd isotopes was due to an erroneous value in the AME03 for 96Mo used as a reference at JYFLTRAP. The measured frequency ratios of Mo isotopes have been used to update mass-excess values of 30 neutron-deficient nuclides measured at JYFLTRAP. peerReviewed
