Approximation properties of q-Kantorovich-Stancu operator

In this paper we study some properties of Kantorovich-type generalizations of the q-Stancu operators. We obtain some approximation properties for these operators, estimating the rate of convergence by using the first and second modulus of continuity. Also, we investigate the statistical approximation properties of the q-Kantorovich-Stancu operators using the Korovkin-type statistical approximation theorem.
Demand for life annuities from married couples with a bequest motive

The aim of this paper is to explain the ‘annuities puzzle’ in greater depth by introducing the bequest motive. It will try to determine whether this motive really is a relevant feature influencing the demand for life annuities from married couples. With this aim in mind, we develop an optimization model of the utility provided by purchasing a life annuity with contingent survivor benefit or a joint survivor life annuity. Our model is based on that first put forward by Brown and Poterba (2000), to which we have added elements from other models, such as Friedman and Warshawsky's (1990) and Vidal and Lejárraga's (2004), which include the bequest motive. Topological superconductors differ from topologically trivial ones for the presence of topologically protected zero-energy modes. To date, experimental evidence of topological superconductivity in nanostructures has been mainly obtained by measuring the zero-bias conductance peak via tunneling spectroscopy. Here, we propose an alternative and complementary experimental recipe to detect topological phase transitions in these systems. We show in fact that, for a finite-sized system with broken time-reversal symmetry, discontinuities in the Josephson current-phase relation correspond to the presence of zero-energy modes and to a change in the fermion parity of the groundstate. Two-photon exchange corrections to elastic e− -proton scattering: Full dispersive treatment of πN states at low momentum transfers

We evaluate the pion-nucleon intermediate-state contribution to the two-photon exchange (TPE) correction in the elastic electron-nucleon scattering within a dispersive framework. We calculate the contribution from all $\ensuremath{\pi}N$ partial waves using the MAID parametrization. We provide the corresponding TPE correction to the unpolarized $ep$ scattering cross section in the region of low momentum transfer ${Q}^{2}\ensuremath{\lesssim}0.064\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{GeV}}^{2}$, where no analytical continuation into the unphysical region of the TPE scattering amplitudes is required. In hydraulic circuits of the standard fluid-power actuators and mechanisms, like the linear-stroke cylinders, some hydrodynamic effects are often neglected. It happens mainly due to their complexity and secondariness in comparison with the principal transient and steady-state behavior of the hydromechanical process variables, such as the differential pressure and relative displacement and its rate, in other words the piston stroke and velocity.
