Aim. The aim of this study was to obtain increased knowledge and understanding about what can be promoting and facilitating for nurses to perform nutritional nursing assessment in older patients. Background. The frequency of older patients at nutritional risk or suffering from undernutrition is high in hospitals. Effects of Caffeine as an Adjuvant to Morphine in Advanced Cancer Patients

Psychomotor abnormalities are one of the complications of opioid therapy in advanced cancer patients. Caffeine has potential properties to counteract the central effects of morphine. Twelve patients receiving stable doses of slow release morphine with adequate pain relief were scheduled for this double-blind placebo-controlled crossover trial. The treatment consisted of an intravenous dose of 1/6 of the daily morphine dose, using an intravenous/oral conversion ratio of 1:3. The dose calculated was administered in 5 minutes. Intraosseous (i.o.) infusion is considered a useful technique for the administration of medications and fluids in emergency situations when peripheral intravascular access is not possible. This study investigated the effectiveness of i.o. versus intravenous (i.v.) infusion of hydroxyethyl starch (HES 200/0.5) in hypovolemic pigs. Twenty-three pigs (8- to 9-week-old) were anaesthesized, instrumented and blood was withdrawn (25-30 ml/kg) to50 mmHg mean arterial pressure (MAP). Bakgrunn: Forskning viser at pasienter i generell anestesi som har fått sine luftveier sikret med en larynxmaske eller en endotrakealtube opplever postoperative pharyngolaryngeale komplikasjoner. Et kontrollert cufftrykk har vist reduksjon i komplikasjoner.
 Hensikt: Hensikten med studien var å undersøke hvilke metoder anestesisykepleiere bruker for å kontrollere cufftrykk, og hvilke begrunnelser de har for å bruke cufftrykkmanometer.
