Bakalaura darba tēma – Aprūpes īpatnības bērniem ar Dauna sindromu stacionārā. Tēmas aktualitāte pievērst uzmanību bērna ar Dauna sindroma aprūpei, kā arī mazināt stereotipus par šiem bērniem. Darba mērķis ir izpētīt Dauna sindromu un māsas lomu šo bērnu aprūpē, kā arī aprūpes īpatnības. Pētniecības uzdevumi ir veikt zinātniskās literatūras analīzi, pētījuma atbilstošas māszinību teorijas atlasi, izstrādāt anketu, veikt pilot pētījumu, iegūto datu apkopošanu, analīze un secinājumu veikšana. Breast Cancer in Two Ex‑Votos, A Millennia Apart: Patients’ Hope and Faith Expressed Through the Centuries in Votive Offerings

A votive offering or ex-voto includes a variety of usually non-professional artworks offered to divinities and placed in religious sites to fulfill a vow or in gratitude for recovery from an illness or injury. Unfortunately, the ancient period lacks a scientifically verifiable understanding of the true nature of cancer and its natural history and, consequently, a lack of effective treatment. This paper discusses two ex-votos potentially related to breast cancer distant more than 2000 years, one from the other. The ex-votos convey the complex relationship of humans with illness through an art expression stemming from the heart and minds of ordinary people.

Artificial ventilation for basic life support leads to hyperventilation in first aid providers.

The 'Guidelines 2000 for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care - International Consensus on Science' recommend an artificial ventilation volume of 10 ml/kg bodyweight (equivalent to a tidal volume of 700-1000 ml) without the use of supplemental oxygen in adults with respiratory arrest. For first aid providers using the mouth-to-mouth or mouth-to-nose-ventilation technique, respectively, a ventilation volume of approximately 9.6 l/min results. Summary Objectives To describe survival, predictors of long-term outcome and attitudes in patients treated at home by tracheostomy-intermittent positive-pressure ventilation (TIPPV) for respiratory failure during a 10-year period (1995–2004). Methods Seventy-seven consecutive patients were treated by TIPPV at home. Patients were divided into three groups: neuromuscular, pulmonary, and non-pulmonary patients. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of an educational intervention based on critical incident and root cause analysis (RCA) techniques regarding attitudes towards patient safety in nursing students.
