Fruits, seeds, leaves and underground storage organs were all consumed by human groups during the Palaeolithic. These plant foodstuffs provided humans with minerals, vitamins and nutrients essential for optimal health. In this sense, fire control was a crucial human achievement since cooking allowed the physical and chemical modification of these elements by eliminating toxins, enhancing the digestion of foodstuffs and increasing their energy value. The use of fire during plant processing increases the potential preservation of archaeobotanical remains, as well. Abstract Fumonisins are important mycotoxins basically produced by strains from the Gibberella fujikuroi species complex (with anamorphs in Fusarium genus) which contaminate food and feed products representing a risk to human and animal health. Bakalaura darbā pētīta Knuta Hamsuna popularitāte 20. gadsimta sākuma latviešu literatūrā un recepcija kritikā, kā arī apskatīta autora aktualitāte 21. gadsimtā. Darba mērķis ir noskaidrot kādus poētikas veidošanas paņēmienus latviešu autori aizguvuši no Knuta Hamsuna. Ir veikts salīdzinošs pētījums, sastatot tādu latviešu autoru kā Jānis Akuraters, Gunars Janovskis un Inga Ābele darbus ar norvēģu autora daiļradi. Pētījuma rezultātā apstiprinājusies hipotēze, ka iespaids uz 20. gadsimta literatūru bijis ievērojamāks, savukārt 21. gadsimtā aktualitāte zudusi. Positive effects of pistachio nut consumption on plasma inflammatory biomarkers have been described; however, little is known about molecular events associated with these effects. We studied the anti-inflammatory activity of a hydrophilic extract from Sicilian Pistacia L. (HPE) in a macrophage model and investigated bioactive components relevant to the observed effects. HPE oligomer/polymer proanthocyanidin fractions were isolated by adsorbance chromatography, and components quantified as anthocyanidins after acidic hydrolysis.
