Indications of polymorphism in the behaviour and morphology of burbot (Lota lota) in a European lake

AbstractIn this study, polymorphism in behaviour, morphology, and stable isotope signatures of burbot from Lake Southern Konnevesi, Finland, Europe, was examined. First, local knowledge was collected on exceptional polymorphism of the spawning behaviour and morphology of burbot. These phenomena were then studied based on catch samples. Interviews and catch sample analyses suggested two morphs of burbot: one morph spawning in late February in the littoral zone and other in late March, in deep profundal, depths of about 30 m. Fish caught from the profundal zone had higher average proportional somatic body weights and wider heads than those caught from the littoral spawning sites in February. …

Focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH) is a rare benign liver lesion which is difficult to differentiate from other benign liver pathologies and hepatocellular carcinoma. However, with appropriate new imaging techniques it is, at present, possible to diagnose this lesion with certainty thus avoiding invasive tests. Patient follow-up is also facilitated. It is often incidentally discovered during an abdominal ultrasound for other pathologies. Color power Doppler allows, in most cases, one to distinguish it from other focal liver lesions. Local regularity estimates for general discrete dynamic programming equations

We obtain an analytic proof for asymptotic H\"older estimate and Harnack's inequality for solutions to a discrete dynamic programming equation. The results also generalize to functions satisfying Pucci-type inequalities for discrete extremal operators. Thus the results cover a quite general class of equations.

Šajā darbā tika izmantota rentgenstaru absorbcijas spektru analīze oksīdu stiprinātam tēraudam (ODS), kas ir perspektīvs materiāls dažādās jomās, piemēram, saules elektrostacijās, reaktīvos dzinējos, ķīmiskos reaktoros un kodolreaktoros, jo materiālam piemīt tādas īpašības kā laba siltumvadītspēja un zema termiskās izplešanās apvienojumā ar augstu temperatūras izturību, korozijas un radiācijas pretestību. Darbā tiek iegūta informācija par ar dažādām metodēm izgatavotu ODS tēraudu lokālās atomārās struktūras izmaiņu ap itrija (Y) un titāna (Ti) atomiem, analizējot Y un Ti absorbcijas K-malu.

Oksīdu stiprināts tērauds (ODS) ir perspektīvs kodolsintēzes reaktoru materiāls, kuram ir lieliska siltumvadītspēja un zema termiskās izplešanās, apvienojumā ar augstu temperatūras izturību, korozijas un radiācijas pretestību. Tamdēļ šo materiālu var izmantot arī daudzos citos pielietojumos, piemēram, saules elektrostacijās, reaktīvos dzinējos, ķīmiskos reaktoros, kā arī ūdeņraža ražošanā. Šajā darbā ar rentgenabsorbcijas spektroskopijas metodi tika analizētas ferīta un austentisko ODS tēraudu lokālās atomārās struktūras izmaiņas ap dzelzs (Fe) un hroma (Cr) atomiem dažādos tēraudu izgatavošanas posmos, analizējot Fe un Cr absorbcijas K-malas spektrus.
