A biomimetic approach to ameliorate dental hypersensitivity by amorphous polyphosphate microparticles.
2016
Abstract Objective Dental hypersensitivity has become one of the most common and most costly diseases in the world, even though those maladies are very rarely life threatening. Using amorphous microparticles, fabricated from the natural polymer (polyphosphate), we intend to reseal the dentinal tubules exposed and reduce by that the hypersensitivity. Methods Amorphous microparticles (termed aCa-polyP-MP) were prepared from Na-polyphosphate (polyP) and CaCl 2 , then incubated with human teeth. The potential of the microparticles to plug the dentinal tubules was determined by microscopic and spectroscopic techniques. Results We demonstrate that, in contrast to polyP, the aCa-polyP-MP efficient…
145 Multifunction Role of Osteonectin/SPARC during Human embryonic and Feta Development
1991
The temporal and spatial distribution of osteonectin/SPARC was investigated during different stages of human development by in situ hybridization and histochemistry Specific mRNA was associated with(a) tissues exhibiting high rates of matrix production (skin, vessels, tendons fetal mesenchyme), (b) cells involved in the process of mineralization (osteoblasts, chondrocytes, odontoblasts), (c)production of basement membranes (glomeruli and (d) steroid synthesis (adrenal gland, Leydig cells) In the growth plate, expression was found in the upper hypertrophic and proliferative but not in the mineralized zone. Histochemistry detected osteonectin extra-cellularly in mineralized tissues, whereas o…
Ultrastructural patterns of human dentinal tubules, odontoblasts processes and nerve fibres.
2005
The structure of the dentin, consists of the following elements: the odontoblastic processes, dentinal tubules and their periodontoblastic spaces. The odontoblasts are aligned in a single layer in the periphery of the dental pulp and secrete the organic components of dentin. The vitality of dentin is mediated too by the nerve fibres. The ultrastructure of the trigeminal sensory nerves in dentin, especially in relation to odontoblasts remains to be clarified. We studied the third molars and young premolars. The specimens were fixed in glutaraldehyde immediately after extraction. Our investigations give evidence to prove that the distribution of the dentinary tubules is homogeneous, containin…

Dentin tubule orientation determines odontoblastic differentiation in vitro: A morphological study.
2019
Odontoblasts are post-mitotic cells responsible for maintenance of the dentin, and are therefore important for dental health. In some cases, irreversible pulpitis leads to necrosis and consequently death of odontoblasts. Regenerative endodontics (RE) uses the concept of tissue engineering to restore the root canals to a healthy state, allowing for continued development of the root and surrounding tissue. Human dental pulp stem cells (hDPSCs) have been successfully used in RE to restore odontoblast function. Surface microgeometry is one of the most important factors involved in the induction of differentiation of hDPSCs into odontoblast-like cells. Although different authors have demonstrate…

The colocalizations of pulp neural stem cells markers with dentin matrix protein-1, dentin sialoprotein and dentin phosphoprotein in human denticle (…
2021
Abstract Background The primary dentin, secondary dentin, and reactive tertiary dentin are formed by terminal differentiated odontoblasts, whereas atubular reparative tertiary dentin is formed by odontoblast-like cells. Odontoblast-like cells differentiate from pulpal stem cells, which express the neural stem cell markers nestin, S100β, Sox10, and P0. The denticle (pulp stone) is an unique mineralized extracellular matrix that frequently occurs in association with the neurovascular structures in the dental pulp. However, to date, the cellular origin of denticles in human dental pulp is unclear. In addition, the non-collagenous extracellular dentin matrix proteins dentin matrix protein 1 (DM…
Konfokale Laser-Scanning-Mikroskopie (CLSM): Histotomographie veränderter Zahnhartgewebe bei pathologischer Mundhöhlenökologie

There is no consensus regarding the aetiology of radiation-induced caries. Lesion formation is assumed to originate either from direct radiogenic damage of the hard tissue or from the indirect effects correlated with radioxerostomia. A comparative study is presented of sound teeth (group 1), teeth with documented radiation caries (group 2), teeth after in situ radiation (group 3): 60 Gy, fractionated) and teeth after in vitro radiation (group 4: 500-2500 Gy). Radiations were carried out with a 60Co source. The dentoenamel junction was studied with confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM). Axial sections of the teeth were used either fresh or embedded in Technovit (sawing-grinding technique…

Distribution of osteonectin mRNA and protein during human embryonic and fetal development.
1992
We investigated the temporal and spatial distribution of osteonectin during human embryonic and fetal development, using in situ hybridization and immunohistochemistry. Osteonectin gene expression was generally found in cells exhibiting high rates of matrix production/proliferation. In mineralized tissue, a strong signal was obtained in osteoblasts, odontoblasts, and chondrocytes of the upper hypertrophic and proliferative zones. Chondrocytes of the mineralized zone showed no expression throughout the different stages of development. Strong osteonectin expression was found in odontoblasts of developing teeth. In addition, osteonectin mRNA and protein were detected in several non-mineralize…
