This paper presents experimental evidence on a new entrepreneurship track that provides business training and personalized coaching to university students in Tunisia. Undergraduates in the final year of licence appliquee were given the opportunity to graduate with a business plan instead of following the standard curriculum. This paper relies on randomized assignment of the entrepreneurship track to identify impacts on labor market outcomes one year after graduation. The analysis finds that the entrepreneur…

Italian multicenter study on infection hazards during dental practice: Control of environmental microbial contamination in public dental surgeries

2008

Abstract Background The present study assessed microbial contamination in Italian dental surgeries. Methods An evaluation of water, air and surface microbial contamination in 102 dental units was carried out in eight Italian cities. Results The findings showed water microbial contamination in all the dental surgeries; the proportion of water samples with microbial levels above those recommended decreased during working. With regard to Legionella spp., the proportion of positive samples was 33.3%. During work activity, the index of microbial air contamination (IMA) increased. The level of microbial accumulation on examined surfaces did not change over time. Conclusion These findings confirm …

Alternative Methods of Sterilization in Dental Practices Against COVID-19

2020

SARS-CoV-2, and several other microorganisms, may be present in nasopharyngeal and salivary secretions in patients treated in dental practices, so an appropriate clinical behavior is required in order to avoid the dangerous spread of infections. COVID-19 could also be spread when patients touches a contaminated surface with infected droplets and then touch their nose, mouth, or eyes. It is time to consider a dental practice quite similar to a hospital surgery room, where particular attention should be addressed to problems related to the spreading of infections due to air and surface contamination. The effectiveness of conventional cleaning and disinfection procedures may be limited by seve…

Prevalence of smoking among dentists in Catalonia - Spain (2006). Literature review of smoking cessation practices in the dental office

2008

Objective: The objective of this study was to collect data on the prevalence of smokers among Catalonian dentists (by age and sex) and compare them with existing data on the general population, doctors, registered nurses and pharmacists. The overall prevalence of smokers in Catalonia (2006) was 34.5% of men and 24.3% of women. Data available on the prevalence of smoking among doctors (26.3% men and 22.1% women), pharmacists (19.8% men and 20.6% women) and registered nurses (34.1% men and 35.3% women) relates to the year 2002. Study design: In September 2006, Catalonian dentists (n=3,799) were asked about their habits in relation to tobacco in a self-administered questionnaire, on use and op…

L'ordinamento giudiziario. Ciclo di seminari (Palermo, marzo-maggio, 2018)

2019

The collected contributions constitute the backbone of a series of seminars on the “Judiciary rules”, which took place in the spring of 2018 in the context of the master's degree course in Law of the University of Palermo. The volume aims to offer the trainee lawyer a closer look at a profile not always investigated of the jurisdictional activity: that of the constitution and functioning of the offices of the ordinary judiciary. Even in their unity, the issues addressed can ideally be divided into two thematic areas: the first aims to provide a general view of the system; the second is dedicated to the analysis of specialized sections and the honorary judiciary. In the appendix, the feature…

Real-time ultrasonography in the otolaryngology office setting

1993

Over the past two decades, diagnostic ultrasonography has evolved into an extensively used noninvasive imaging modality. It plays a vital role in the disciplines of vascular surgery, cardiology, neonatology, pediatrics, ophthalmology, gynecology, and urology, to name a few, but it is in the field of obstetrics that this technology has been maximally used as an office procedure to evaluate the status of the fetus. In the evaluation of head and neck disorders, ultrasonography has been the subject of sporadic reports for the past 15 years.le3 However, except for the evaluation of thyroid masses,4 it has never been widely accepted in the United States as a diagnostic modality, and has taken a b…

Intensity output and effectiveness of light curing units in dental offices

2018

Background The aims of the study were measuring the light intensity of light curing units used in Qazvin's dental offices, determining the relationship between the clinical age of these units and their light intensity, and identifying the reasons for repairing them. Material and Methods In this cross-sectional study, the output intensity of 95 light curing devices was evaluated using a radiometer. The average output intensity was divided up into four categories (less than 200, 200-299, 300-500, and more than 500 mW/cm2). In addition, a questionnaire was designed to obtain information mainly about the type, clinical age, and frequency of maintenance of the units and the reasons for fixing th…

The Open Innovation in Science research field: a collaborative conceptualisation approach

2020

Openness and collaboration in scientific research are attracting increasing attention from scholars and practitioners alike. However, a common understanding of these phenomena is hindered by disciplinary boundaries and disconnected research streams. We link dispersed knowledge on Open Innovation, Open Science, and related concepts such as Responsible Research and Innovation by proposing a unifying Open Innovation in Science (OIS) Research Framework. This framework captures the antecedents, contingencies, and consequences of open and collaborative practices along the entire process of generating and disseminating scientific insights and translating them into innovation. Moreover, it elucidat…

2015
