Enhanced rehabilitation guidance after arthroscopic capsulolabral repair of the shoulder : a randomized controlled trial

Objective: To compare the effects of a 12-month home-based exercise program to usual care in patients after arthroscopic capsulolabral repair of the shoulder. Design: Randomized controlled trial. Setting: Outpatient physical and rehabilitation medicine clinic. Subjects: Forty-five patients (mean age: 35 years; standard deviation (SD): 10 years) who underwent arthroscopic capsulolabral repair due to labral lesion were randomized into an exercise group (EG) or a control group (CG). This study examined the effectiveness of intensive shoulder strength training on disability, health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and shoulder function in patients who had undergone rotator cuff repair (RCR). In addition, the self- report section of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Standardized Assessment Form (ASES) was cross-culturally adapted to the Finnish language and the psychometric properties of the Finnish version were assessed. Terapeuttisen harjoittelun vaikuttavuus toimintakykyyn ja elämänlaatuun olkanivelen labrumin repeämän korjausleikkauksen jälkeen

Tämän Pro gradu -tutkielman tarkoituksena oli vertailla kahden eri kuntoutusohjelman vaikutuksia olkapään toimintakykyyn ja elämänlaatuun Bankart-leikkauksen jälkeen. Tutkimukseen osallistui 45 Bankart-leikkauksessa ollutta potilasta Keski-Suomen keskussairaalan ortopedian ja traumatologian osastolta toukokuun 2006 ja joulukuun 2008 välisenä aikana. Kaikki potilaat aloittivat leikkauksen jälkeen tavanomaisen kuntoutushoidon. Kaksi kuukautta leikkauksen jälkeen potilaat satunnaistettiin joko interventioryhmään (n=23) tai kontrolliryhmään (n=22).
