Over the past decades, an abundance of studies have assessed teacher attitudes and self-efficacy beliefs related to inclusive education. However, empirical evidence on the causal relationship between efficacy and attitudes is still rare and inconclusive. Therefore, the present study focused on identifying the interdependent relationship between teachers’ attitudes and their self-efficacy beliefs using a cross-lagged panel design path analysis. Positive teacher attitudes are essential for success when children with special educational needs (SEN) are placed into mainstream classrooms. The present study surveyed teachers’ attitudes towards inclusion by using a large national sample and Teachers’ Attitudes towards Inclusion Scale (TAIS). A total of 1,764 Finnish basic-school teachers participated in the e-mail survey. They included 824 classroom teachers, 575 subject teachers and 365 special-education teachers. The classroom teachers scored below and the subject teachers significantly below, the neutral midpoint of the scale. The special-education teachers’ mean scores were above the midpoint. This paper reports on two studies designed to examine pre-service teachers’ self-efficacy beliefs. Study I investigated the measurement properties of a self-efficacy beliefs questionnaire comprising scales for computer self-efficacy, teacher self-efficacy, and self-efficacy towards technology integration. In Study I, 200 pre-service teachers completed the self-efficacy questionnaire. Confirmatory factor analyses resulted in a modified measurement model consisting of the three hypothesized self-efficacy scales. In this study, we examined self-regulatory efficacy and sources of self-efficacy (mastery experiences, vicarious experiences, social persuasion and physiological/emotional states) and the relationships between self-efficacy and its sources among elementary school pupils. Two groups were compared: a population sample (PS, N = 1284) and pupils with difficulties in attention and executive functions (AED, N = 61). Data gathered from self-report questionnaires indicated that pupils in the PS group had more positive efficacy beliefs and mastery experiences and fewer negative physiological/emotional states than the AED group. Työn tuunaaminen on oma-aloitteista työn kehittämistä työn voimavaroja ja vaatimuksia muokkaamalla. Tutkimme, millaisia tuunausprofiileja voidaan löytää kolmesta erilaisesta tuunaustavasta, jotka olivat työn voimavarojen lisääminen, työn vaatimusten lisääminen ja työn vaatimusten optimoiminen. Selvitimme myös, miten työhyvinvointi vaihtelee profiileissa. Sähköiseen kyselyyn osallistui 1 024 sosiaali- ja terveysalan organisaation työntekijää. Validation of the swimming competence questionnaire for children

Two studies were employed to test the reliability and validity of the Swimming Competence Questionnaire (SCQ) among primary school children. Study 1 was a cross-sectional survey in 4959 primary school children. Study 2 was a pre-post-test quasi-experiment among 1609 primary school children who underwent a 20-lesson learn-to-swim programme. Pyrkimys autonomisuuteen on yksi ihmisen psykologisista perustarpeista, joka alkaa kehittyä noin kahdesta ikävuodesta eteenpäin. Autonomiaa on kuitenkin tutkittu empiirisesti hyvin vähän varhaiskasvatuksen kontekstissa. Tarkastelemme tässä laadullisessa tutkimuksessa 4–5-vuotiaiden lasten autonomiaa päiväkodissa lastentarhanopettajien näkökulmasta havainnointien ja haastatteluiden sekä lastentarhanopettajien päiväkirjojen ja kirjoitelmien kautta.
