NASH EQUILIBRIA IN A MODEL OF MULTIPRODUCT PRICE COMPETITION: AN ASSIGNMENT PROBLEM

2003

We study the market interaction of a finite number of single-product firms and a representative buyer, where the buyer consumes bundles of these goods. The buyers' value function determines their willingness to pay for subsets of goods. We show that subgame perfect Nash-equilibrium outcomes are solutions of the linear relaxation of an integer programming assignment problem and that they always exits. The (subgame perfect) Nash-equilibrium price set is characterized by the Pareto frontier of the associated dual problem's projection on the firms' price vectors. We identify the Nash-equilibrium prices for monotonic buyers' value functions and, more importantly, we show that some central soluti…

Innovative fully robotic 4-arm Ivor Lewis esophagectomy for esophageal cancer (RAMIE4).

2019

Nowadays robotic surgery is established for abdominal and thoracic surgery. It has been shown that complex procedures are feasible using robotic systems, e.g., da Vinci Xi, with a huge benefit in precision. Different techniques for esophageal cancer surgery are reported; however, only a few robotic and partial robotic procedures are described. Therefore, a fully robotic (abdominal and thoracic) Ivor Lewis esophageal resection using four robotic arms-RAMIE4-the standard technique used for lower esophageal cancer, is presented in this paper. The technique shown in the video was performed successfully in 100 cases in 24 months. The reconstruction is performed with a gastric conduit pull-up and…

Why laparoscopists may opt for three-dimensional view: a summary of the full HTA report on 3D versus 2D laparoscopy by S.I.C.E. (Società Italiana di …

2018

Background Three-dimensional view in laparoscopic general, gynaecologic and urologic surgery is an efficient, safe and sustainable innovation. The present paper is an extract taken from a full health technology assessment report on three-dimensional vision technology compared with standard two-dimensional laparoscopic systems. Methods A health technology assessment approach was implemented in order to investigate all the economic, social, ethical and organisational implications related to the adoption of the innovative three-dimensional view. With the support of a multi-disciplinary team, composed of eight experts working in Italian hospitals and Universities, qualitative and quantitative d…

Il trattamento chirurgico delle lesioni nodulari tiroidee: nostra esperienza. Analisi di 462 casi.

2004

Nodular thyroid lesions are the most frequent endocrine diseases in the general population. The surgical procedure is indicated for nodular thyroid tissue degeneration, or when the suppressive pharmacologic therapy is less efficient, even if sometimes both factors are associated. In Authors' study 462 patients were observed who underwent surgical procedures for thyroid diseases between January 1997-April 2003. In the thyroid pathology, either uninodular or multinodular, the surgical therapy adopted is total thyroidectomy, according to other Authors. The aim of total thyroidectomy is to avoid recurrence and simplify long term pharmacologic treatment. Although the question about the surgical …

Transanal Endoscopic Microsurgery for T1 and T2 Rectal Cancers: A Meta–Analysis and Meta-Regression Analysis of Outcomes

2011

The objective of this study is to assess transanal endoscopic microsurgery (TEM) as a surgical strategy for stage I rectal cancer. The literature lacks level I and level II evidence of the oncologic competence of TEM. Three randomized controlled, one prospective, and seven retrospective comparative studies were evaluated. End-points included perioperative outcomes, margin involvement, disease-free and overall survival, and recurrence. The number of patients with major (odds ratio (OR) = 0.24,95% confidence interval (CI) 0.07–0.91) and overall postoperative complications (OR = 0.16, 95% CI 0.06-0.38) were significantly lower in TEM. The disease-free survival was higher in standard resection…

Translating with the Internet, Translating with Speechy Project

2011

The Speechy Project (SP henceforth) arose in the last autumn of 2009 with the aim of helping advanced students of English to make the most of the Internet. Since then, this website has been sieving the net in order to pick out the best online resources and classify them orderly into field-related lists. On this trend, several sieves have been performed onto different fields of the English Language. The one which this article is concerned with corresponds to the Translation field that is projected in SP as a neat cooperative network teamed up (and managed) by six volunteers.

Performance analysis of amplify-and-forward cooperative communication systems with channel estimation errors

2008

Cooperative diversity is a transmission technique that achieves a diversity gain by using a combination of the relayed signal and the direct signal. In this paper, we study the symbol-error-rate (SER) performance of a cooperative communication system operating in an amplify-and-forward (AF) mode, where the channel state information (CSI) available at the receiver is an estimate of the channel gains with estimation errors. We derive both the probability density function and the moment generating function of the instantaneous signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) at the destination terminal. These statistical quantities are then applied to study the performance of an AF cooperative communication system…

Post-transplantation cyclophosphamide after HLA identical compared to haploidentical donor transplant in acute myeloid leukemia: a study on behalf of…

2022

Post-transplantation cyclophosphamide (PTCY) effectively prevents graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) after unmanipulated HLA-haploidentical hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) and achieves low rates of GVHD in HLA-identical transplantation. To compare the outcomes of haploidentical versus HLA identical HSCT in patients undergoing HSCT for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) using PTCY. We conducted a retrospective study of 229 patients undergoing first HSCT for AML using PTCY with additional immunosuppression, 99 from matched sibling or unrelated donor (MSD/MUD) performed in 3 hospitals and 130 from haploidentical donors (haplo group) performed in 20 hospitals within the Spanish Group of …

Results of the TOP Study: Prospectively Randomized Multicenter Trial of an Ex Vivo Tacrolimus Rinse Before Transplantation in EDC Livers

2016

Background. Organ shortage results in the transplantation of extended donor criteria (EDC) livers which is associated with increased ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI). Experimental studies indicate that an organ rinse with the calcineurin inhibitor tacrolimus before implantation protects against IRI. The tacrolimus organ perfusion study was initiated to examine the effects of ex vivo tacrolimus perfusion on IRI in transplantation of EDC livers. Methods. A prospective randomized multicenter trial comparing ex vivo perfusion of marginal liver grafts (>= 2 EDC according to Eurotransplant manual) with tacrolimus (20 ng/mL) or histidine-tryptophane-ketoglutarate solution (control) was carried ou…
