Chen’s iterated integral represents the operator product expansion
1999
The recently discovered formalism underlying renormalization theory, the Hopf algebra of rooted trees, allows to generalize Chen’s lemma. In its generalized form it describes the change of a scale in Green functions, and hence relates to the operator product expansion. Hand in hand with this generalization goes the generalization of the ordinary factorial n! to the tree factorial t. Various identities on tree-factorials are derived which clarify the relation between Connes-Moscovici weights and Quantum Field Theory.
Determination of the chiral couplingsL10andC87from semileptonicτdecays
2008
Using recent precise hadronic {tau}-decay data on the V-A spectral function, and general properties of QCD such as analyticity, the operator product expansion, and chiral perturbation theory, we get accurate values for the QCD chiral order parameters L{sub 10}{sup r}(M{sub {rho}}) and C{sub 87}{sup r}(M{sub {rho}}). These two low-energy constants appear at order p{sup 4} and p{sup 6}, respectively, in the chiral perturbation theory expansion of the V-A correlator. At order p{sup 4} we obtain L{sub 10}{sup r}(M{sub {rho}})=-(5.22{+-}0.06)x10{sup -3}. Including in the analysis the two-loop (order p{sup 6}) contributions, we get L{sub 10}{sup r}(M{sub {rho}})=-(4.06{+-}0.39)x10{sup -3} and C{s…
Forward light-by-light scattering and electromagnetic correction to hadronic vacuum polarization
2023
Lattice QCD calculations of the hadronic vacuum polarization (HVP) have reached a precision where the electromagnetic (e.m.) correction can no longer be neglected. This correction is both computationally challenging and hard to validate, as it leads to ultraviolet (UV) divergences and to sizeable infrared (IR) effects associated with the massless photon. While we precisely determine the UV divergence using the operator-product expansion, we propose to introduce a separation scale $\Lambda\sim400\;$MeV into the internal photon propagator, whereby the calculation splits into a short-distance part, regulated in the UV by the lattice and in the IR by the scale $\Lambda$, and a UV-finite long-di…
