This article provides a cross-sectional overview of the evolution of music teaching methods over a 160-year timeline. The objective of the study is limited to examining the mainstream trends in the development of methods, or their manifestations, as well as discussing the causes behind them. The objective is also to investigate the methodical state of the 21st century teaching. The data consists of previous studies, music textbooks and learning diaries of class teacher students (N=79). The purpose of the research was to find out what kind of connections a music project based on multilateral learning has on pupils’ (children’s) actions and learning when using music education technology as a tool, and how the music project affected the class teacher students’ shared cognition and the development of their professional identity. Tutkimuksessa selvitetään opettajan viestinnän ja vuorovaikutuksen merkityksiä oppilaan pedagogiseen hyvinvointiin. Lisäksi tutkimuksen tavoitteena on selvittää, millaisia merkityksiä opettajan vuorovaikutuksella ja viestinnällä on oppilaiden kokemaan luokan ilmapiirin, opetusmetelmiin sekä opetuksen innostavuuteen. Näitä teemoja pohditaan oppilaiden vastausten lisäksi tutkijoiden havaintoihin perustuvasta näkökulmasta.
