A Shape-based Statistical Method to Retrieve 2D TRUS-MR Slice Correspondence for Prostate Biopsy

International audience; This paper presents a method based on shape-context and statistical measures to match interventional 2D Trans Rectal Ultrasound (TRUS) slice during prostate biopsy to a 2D Magnetic Resonance (MR) slice of a pre-acquired prostate volume. Accurate biopsy tissue sampling requires translation of the MR slice information on the TRUS guided biopsy slice. However, this translation or fusion requires the knowledge of the spatial position of the TRUS slice and this is only possible with the use of an electro-magnetic (EM) tracker attached to the TRUS probe. TALPID3/KIAA0586 is an evolutionary conserved protein, which plays an essential role in protein trafficking. Its role during gastrointestinal (GI) and enteric nervous system (ENS) development has not been studied previously. Here, we analyzed chicken, mouse and human embryonic GI tissues with TALPID3 mutations. The GI tract of TALPID3 chicken embryos was shortened and malformed. Histologically, the gut smooth muscle was mispatterned and enteric neural crest cells were scattered throughout the gut wall. Slimības uztveres saistība ar dzīves kvalitāti krūts vēža pacientēm

Latvijā krūts vēzis ir visizplatītākais ļaundabīgais audzējs sievietēm. Slimības uztvere nosaka pacientu veselības un slimības uzvedību un tai ir ietekme uz dzīves kvalitāti. Pētījuma mērķis ir izpētīt slimības uztveres saistību ar dzīves kvalitāti krūts vēža pacientēm. Pētījumā piedalījās 39 krūts vēža pacientes no 18 gadu vecuma, kuras ir ārstēšanās procesā. Tika izmantota Slimības uztveres skalas saīsinātā versija (Brief Illness Perception Questionnaire), EORTC QLQ-C30 un EORTC QLQ-BR23 aptaujas. Iegūtie rezultāti liecina par to, ka slimības uztveres rādītāji negatīvi saistās ar dzīves kvalitātes funkcionēšanas rādītājiem un pozitīvi saistās ar dzīves kvalitātes simptomu rādītājiem.
