Modeling and energy optimization of the operative parts of an air assisted drill
2016
In the context of sustainable farming, the optimization of the energy costs of agricultural operations allows shorter working times and high quality of the agricultural operations. This question relates particularly to the seeding. This operation one is decisive for the quality of the future harvest. The modern high capacity seed drills must be compatible with all the constraints. The main goal of this PhD thesis is thus to develop an innovative methodology, integrating the modeling tools, in order to reduce the energy consumption of the heavy seeding equipment. Thus, we explored four key aspects concerning air seed drill design: maneuverability of poly-articulated seed drills; establishmen…
Optimization for the determination of enzyme activities in various pea tissues
2014
Rapport de Stage de Master 1 EA Geapsi CT2 EA EJ1; In an environmental and political context which requests an increase of food production and a decrease in fertilizer use, pea culture seems to be one solution due on the one hand to its atmospheric nitrogen fixation and on the other hand to the important nitrogen quantity left by plants in the soil after harvest. But pea plants are very sensitive to soil water stress, that’s why scientists are searching information about enzyme activities to reveal how peas react when they are submitted to drought in the purpose of minimizing the negative impact and thus reach optimum yields. This report focuses on key enzymes involved in carbon and nitroge…
Fast Optimization Scheme for the Muscular Response to FES Stimulation to Design a Smart Electrostimulator
2022
In this article, we present the design of a smart electrostimulator for muscle rehabilitation or reinforcement, using fast computations, in order to control the muscular force. The Ding and al. model allows to predict and to optimize the muscular force response to functional electrical stimulation. [1]. We analyze the estimation of the Ding and al. parameters using an approximation of the force response [6] which depends upon the 6 parameters of the Ding's model and we derive optimization scheme which bypass the time computational expensive integration of the dynamics of the Ding and al. equations.
Target 5G visible light positioning signal subcarrier extraction method using particle swarm optimization algorithm
2021
International audience; With the explosive growth of demand for Internet of Things (IoT) applications and the increasing dependence of users on wireless connections, indoor location based service(LBS) under 5G-Public-Private Partnership (5G-PPP) using cases have received more attention and get rapid development. Thanks to the safty, security and customization of 5G network pointed by 5G forum white paper, indoor positioning systems using unified 5G New Radio (NR) signals have become the focus of the next generation of visible light positioning (VLP) systems. In 5G New Radio(NR) frame, totally 192 subcarriers are used to carry positioning reference signal(PRS). In order to improve the positi…

Joint Optimization of Sensor Selection and Routing for Distributed Estimation in Wireless Sensor Networks
2014
Optimal portfolio allocation with real assets : a Finnish perspective
2017
Alternative market assets, i.e. those which are not part of the ''traditional'' financial assets, have become increasingly popular globally during the last decade. The purpose of this study is to examine the potential benefits of including real investment assets, specifically timberland and real estate holdings, for a investor investing to either domestic or international markets. Specifically the questions to be asked are: Do Finnish real investment assets offer diversification benefits in respect of increased risk-adjusted returns? What are the optimal asset allocations? The analyzed time-series for alternative investments represent quarterly total returns of average Finnish timberland an…
Disintegration of Wastewater Activated Sludge (WAS) for Improved Biogas Production
2018
Due to rapid urbanization, the number of wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) has increased, and so has the associated waste generated by them. Sustainable management of this waste can lead to the creation of energy-rich biogas via fermentation processes. This review presents recent advances in the anaerobic digestion processes that have led to greater biogas production. Disintegration techniques for enhancing the fermentation of waste activated sludge can be apportioned into biological, physical and chemical means, which are included in this review; they were mainly compared and contrasted in terms of the ensuing biogas yield. It was found that ultrasonic- and microwave-assisted disintegrati…
Commercial Biogas Plants: Lessons for Ukraine
2020
Ukraine has enough biomass resources for biogas production. However, this energy potential is not used sufficiently. This research is aimed at examining the current experience of commercial biogas systems in the Europe Union and its adaptation for Ukraine. Special attention was paid to economic indicators, such as specific investment costs, production costs (biogas, biomethane, and electricity), and incentives. Using statistical data for the European Union and Ukraine, the biogas potential for Ukraine (based on European experience) was determined. The economic competitiveness of biogas production was evaluated compared to alternatives, such as photovoltaic, wind power, biomass, conventional…
Development and pilot-scale validation of a fuzzy-logic control system for optimization of methane production in fixed-bed reactors
2018
International audience; The objective of this study was to develop an advanced control system for optimizing the performance of fixed-bed anaerobic reactors. The controller aimed at maximizing the bio-methane production whilst controlling the volatile fatty acids content in the effluent. For this purpose, a fuzzy-logic controller was developed, tuned and validated in an anaerobic fixed-bed reactor at pilot scale (350 L) treating raw winery wastewater. The results showed that the controller was able to adequately optimize the process performance, maximizing the methane production in terms of methane flow rate, resulting in an average methane yield of about 0.29 LCH4 g−1 COD. On the other han…
