"Boga potrzeba panowie, gdy się na wojnę wybieracie", czyli o sztuce dobrego bojowania w nauczaniu Fabiana Birkowskiego
2020
In his writings, the Old-Polish preacher, Father Fabian Birkowski, many a time made references to reality of war, with which he was familiar due to his services as the camp chaplain. Thus, military motifs can be found in his sermons that were delivered on different occasions. He taught the art of good fighting by, among others, recalling the glorious memory of sons of the Crown, both members of clergy and laity, recollecting historic events from the history of the nation, propagating the cult of saints and preaching the Gospel on particular Sundays of the liturgical year, and all these issues are discussed in this paper. The role model of homo militans, which was created by Fabian Birkowski…

Clinical Behavior of Ceramic, Hybrid and Composite Onlays. A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
2020
A systematic review and meta-analysis was performed to analyze the survival of onlay restorations in the posterior region, their clinical behavior according to the material used (ceramic reinforced with lithium disilicate, conventional feldspathic ceramic or reinforced with leucite; hybrid materials and composite), possible complications, and the factors influencing restoration success. The systematic review was based on the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) statement, without publication date or language restrictions. An electronic search was made in the PubMed, Scopus, Embase, and Cochrane databases. After discarding duplicate publications and stu…

Intermediate units and competence creation in the multinational firm: a network approach
2019
Multinational Corporations (MNCs) as economic and social actors have an enormous impact on the global economy. They have been acknowledged as the forefront of the technological and organizational developments (Lundan, 2018) while also presented as resource spoilers in other contexts (Narula, 2018). Currently, the economic environment MNCs face is determined by the fragmentation of the global production. Mainly, this is due to technological advances, the rise of emerging economies and liberalization policies (Narula, 2014) which have facilitated cross-border coordination of transactions (Kano, 2017). As a consequence, the MNC is assisting to the subsequent dispersion of its activities which …
Surgical management of retinal detachment because of macular hole in highly myopic eyes
2012
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to review the current management of macular hole retinal detachment in highly myopic eyes. METHODS: We searched English MEDLINE databases from January 1997 to January 2011 for surgical management of macular hole retinal detachment in highly myopic eyes. The main outcomes reported include retinal reattachment and visual acuity after primary surgery. RESULTS: Surgical procedures including pneumoretinopexy, pars plana vitrectomy with gas or silicone oil tamponade with or without laser therapy around the macular hole, and macular buckling have been the primary treatment choices. New techniques, including internal limiting membrane or epiretinal membrane pe…

High myopic patients with and without foveoschisis: morphological and functional characteristics.
2020
Purpose: Myopic foveoschisis (MF) is characterized by the splitting of the retinal layers in the fovea of patients with high myopia (HM). MF may progress into foveal detachment or macular hole formation with consequent loss of central vision. The aim of this study is to investigate morphological and functional changes of the macular region in myopic subjects with and without foveoschisis. Design: Observational, cross-sectional, comparative study. Methods: Forty-eight patients with HM and 24 healthy controls were evaluated by spectral domain-optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT), multifocal electroretinography (mfERG) and microperimetry (MP-1) tests to assess macular thickness, functionality…
