Role of collaborative supply chain of innovation in firm’s performance

2014

This work depicts the Supply Chain of Innovation (SCoI) including only those kinds of relationships related to the purchase and selling of R&D commodities. The theoretical framework represents the propensity of a firm in improving its innovation performance thanks to its collaboration experience and positioning in SCoI. We validate our theoretical framework on a sample of 208 biotechnology companies involved in 814 SCoI agreements. Our results show the positive direct impact of SCoI collaboration experience on innovation performance and a mediating role of positioning in SCoI on the abovementioned link.

Corporate Sustainability – From a Fuzzy Concept to a Coherent Reality

2018

Abstract During the last few decades, the search for sustainability has experienced a tremendous momentum, encompassing all the levels of the global system. Fuelled by complex (both proactive and reactive) motivators, the process has surpassed the characteristics of an intellectual endeavor – more preoccupied by idealist goals, and less focused on the actual means to achieve them – and has proved that it can successfully be transposed into the corporate real world – of decision making, objective assessment, and relentless scrutiny. The paper aims to (broadly) explore the world of the most sustainable corporations – based on a descriptive (factual and dynamic) analysis of Corporate Knight’s …

Is globalization a fair process? Globalizers vs. globalized

2018

Globalization means that domestic economies are becoming more and more intertwined and mutually dependent on each other. Unfortunately these globalization processes are asymmetrical. This determines that there are different groups of participants of globalization - globalizers, active participants and marginalized. It seems quite obvious that globalizers are doing better economically than the others. But is this really true? The aim of this paper is to answer the question, if more globalized countries are really doing better economically than less globalized. To do this there was an analysis of relations between globalization and chosen economic indexes (inflation, unemployment, GDP per cap…

miRNAs in the vitreous humor of patients affected by idiopathic epiretinal membrane and macular hole

2017

The aim of the present study was to assess the expression of miRNAs in the Vitreous Humor (VH) of patients with Macular Hole (MH) and Epiretinal Membrane (ERM) compared to a control group. In this prospective, comparative study, 2-ml of VH was extracted from the core of the vitreous chamber in consecutive patients who underwent standard vitrectomy for ERM and MH. RNA was extracted and TaqMan® Low Density Arrays (TLDAs) were used to profile the transcriptome of 754 miRNAs. Results were validated by single TaqMan® assays. Finally, we created a biological network of differentially expressed miRNA targets and their nearest neighbors.Overall 10 eyes with MH, 16 eyes with idiopathic ERM and 6 cont…

Fat plug myringoplasty: Analysis of a safe procedure for small tympanic perforations

2015

Objective: Assessment of value of fat plug myringoplasty as office-based procedure in small tympanic membrane perforations. Material and Methods: Prospective study of consecutive patients undergoing fat plug myringoplasty under local anesthesia. Minimum follow-up considered was 6 months, which included several microscopic examinations. All data were recorded and analyzed statistically. Results: 33 patients matched the inclusion criteria; the mean perforation size was 2.8 mm. No change in PTA was noted after surgery in the whole series. Recurrence of perforation was detected in 7 cases (21%), which was statistically related with the cause of perforation rather than location or size (p-value …
