Studies on interactions between Orobanche species and their hosts are mainly focused on resistance, radical interactions, and haustorium development. The influence of the host plant on morphology of the parasite under environmental controlled conditions is not reported in the literature. With the aim of filling this gap, the results of cultivation experiments of Orobanche crenata on Vicia faba, V. sativa, Pisum sativum, Cicer arietinum, and Lathyrus clymenum are presented. Phylogenetic placement of Triaenophora (formerly Scrophulariaceae) with some implications for the phylogeny of Lamiales

Phylogenetic placement of Triaenophora together with Rehmannia were explored with DNA sequence data from five regions (rbcL, ndhF, rps16, trnL-F, nr ITS) in two combined data matrices. One (rbcL, ndhF, rps16) represented a wide sampling across most families of Lamiales. The other data matrix represented two DNA regions partly unalignable across Lamiales (trnL-F, nr ITS) plus rps16, which proved to be variable enough to give resolution at a smaller taxonomic level in Lamiales. The taxonomic relationships between Orobanche australis and O. thapsoides are analyzed through the study of the original material. These species are also compared with other morphologically similar ones occurring in the Mediterranean (O. canescens, O. pubescens, O. palaestina, O. amethystea). The lectotype of O. palaestina is designated. From the comparison of these taxa it is evident that O. australis and O. thapsoides refer to the same taxon, to which the name O. australis must be given by priority. New records of the genus Orobanche L. (Orobanchaceae) to the Tunisian flora with lectotypification of the name O. rapum-genistae Thuill.

Based on several field surveys and on the study of original material, we have identified three new species of Orobanche L. s.s. (Orobanchaceae) new to the flora of Tunisia. Orobanche alba Willd., O. calendulae Pomel, and O. gracilis Sm. are reported as new for the country, and the occurrence of O. rapum-genistae Thuill. is confirmed. The lectotypification of O. rapum-genistae is here proposed with a specimen housed in Genève (G). The geographical distribution of the four taxa in Tunisia is given, and details of habitats and hosts are provided. Altogether, the genus Orobanche in Tunisia now includes 18 species; a dichotomous key is proposed to facilitate the identification of these taxa.

These records come from field research carried out between 2010 and 2014 in the Kroumiria region in northwestern Tunisia and herbarium studies. Types of names of Orobanche taxa described from North Africa

In the framework of the revision of the genus Orobanche (including Phelipaea) in the Mediterranean area, the original material for 31 names of new taxa described from North Africa by Ball, Battandier, Forsska°l, Maire (partly with Emberger and Jahandiez), Persoon, Poiret and Pomel has been analysed. Typification is discussed, and where necessary types are designated. Accepted names and synonyms of the recognized taxa are given. Three species are illustrated, and one new combination (O. inexspectata) is proposed.

Orobanche apuana , a new species belonging to Orobanche sect. Orobanche , is described and illustrated from the Apuan Alps, Central Italy. Its relationships with the other species of the group of O. caryophyllacea ( O . grex Galeatae ) and with other Orobanche that parasitize Santolina species are examined. The names Boulardia latisquama , Orobanche lutea and O. teucrii are here lectotypified.
