OBJECTIVE: Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) is associated with elevated cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Considering that oxidative stress is involved in endothelial dysfunction and atherosclerosis development, our aim was to examine lipid peroxidation and protein oxidation, two parameters of oxidative status, in a group of subjects with OSAS. PATIENTS AND METHODS: We consecutively enrolled 48 patients (36 men and 12 women; mean age 49.7±14.6 yrs) with OSAS, subsequently subdivided according to the apnea/hy-popnea index (AHI) value in two subgroups: Low (L= 21 subjects with AHI30). Audiologic profile of OSAS and simple snoring patients: the effect of chronic nocturnal intermittent hypoxia on auditory function

The objective of this work was to study the effect of nocturnal intermittent hypoxia on auditory function of simple snoring patients and subjects affected by OSAS; we compared the audiologic profile with the severity of OSAS to detect early signs of cochlear damage. One hundred-sixty patients underwent overnight polysomnography, micro-otoscopy, multi-frequency audiometry, acufenometry, TEOAE recording and d-ROMs test. All subjects were divided in four groups, based on presence/absence of AHI (simple snoring without OSAS, mild OSAS, moderate OSAS, severe OSAS). En este trabajo se hace un breve análisis de los documentos contenidos en las actas de dos procesos motivados por un error administrativo cometido en la curia del Vicariato de Valencia al anotar los datos de dos jóvenes que habían recibido la tonsura. En uno el notario escribió de manera equivocada su nombre en el registro de ordenaciones y en el otro escribió mal el nombre de su padre. (A)
