A simplified analysis for the evaluation of stochastic response of elasto-plastic oscillators

Abstract The paper deals with dynamic hysteretic oscillators without post-yielding hardening, called ideal elasto-plastic oscillators, subjected to white noise. They are characterized by the fact that they do not reach stationarity even though excited by stationary stochastic processes. A simplified solution procedure to capture this behaviour is presented in this paper. It is based on modelling the accumulated plastic deformations as a homogeneous compound Poisson process. Phase-bistable patterns and cavity solitons induced by spatially periodic injection into vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers

Spatial rocking is a kind of resonant forcing able to convert a self-oscillatory system into a phase-bistable, pattern forming system, whereby the phase of the spatially averaged oscillation field locks to one of two values differing by $\ensuremath{\pi}$. We propose the spatial rocking in an experimentally relevant system---the vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (VCSEL)---and demonstrate its feasibility through analytical and numerical tools applied to a VCSEL model. We show phase bistability, spatial patterns, such as roll patterns, domain walls, and phase (dark-ring) solitons, which could be useful for optical information storage and processing purposes.
A nonlinear oscillators network devoted to image processing

A contrast enhancement and image inverting tool using a lattice of uncoupled nonlinear oscillators is proposed. We show theoretically and numerically that the gray scale picture contrast is strongly enhanced even if this one is initially very small. An image inversion can be also obtained in real time with the same Cellular Nonlinear Network (CNN) without reconfiguration of the network. A possible electronic implementation of this CNN is finally discussed.

Performance analysis of dual-pump nonlinear amplifying loop mirror mode-locked all-fibre laser

We numerically characterise, in the three-dimensional space of adjustable cavity parameters, the performance of a recently reported layout of a flexible figure-8 laser having two independently pumped segments of active fibre in its bidirectional ring (Smirnov et al 2017 Opt. Lett. 42 1732–5). We show that this optimisation problem can be efficiently addressed by applying a regression model based on a neural-network algorithm.
Chaos and its Degradation-Promoting-Based Control in an Antithetic Integral Feedback Circuit

This letter deals with a novel variant of antithetic integral feedback controller (AIFC) motifs which can feature robust perfect adaptation, a pervasive (desired) ability in natural (synthetic) biomolecular circuits, when coupled with a wide class of process networks to be regulated. Using the separation of timescales in the proposed kind of AIFC, here we find a reducedorder controller that captures the governing slow part of the original solutions under suitable assumptions. The effects of the water soluble non-ionic polymers poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG-400, PEG-900 and PEG-2000) and poly(ethylene glycol dimethylether) (MPEG-2000) on the dynamics of the cerium ion catalyzed oscillatory Belousov-Zhabotinsky (BZ) reaction were investigated in a stirred batch reactor by measuring CO2 evolution rate and Ce(IV) absorbance changes. Addition of increasing amounts of additives strongly influences all the oscillatory parameters (induction period, time period and amplitude) to an extent that depends on the type of the additive used. Synchronization of hidden chaotic attractors on the example of radiophysical oscillators

In the present paper we consider the problem of synchronization of hidden and self-excited attractors in the context of application to a system of secure communication. The system of two coupled Chua models was studied. Complete synchronization was observed as for self-excited, as hidden attractors. Beside it for hidden attractors some special type of dynamic was revealed.
