Immediate Loading with Fixed Full-Arch Prosthesis in the Edentulous Patient: Treatment Protocol

2019

Immediate loading is basically a prosthetic concept. However, the surgical implantological planning is very important to ensure a primary stability in the total edentulous patient. This characteristic is crucial to allow immediate loading in this type of patients. For the first time, the incisional design has allowed the clinician to overview about the surgical side. Later, maybe, the bone will need an osteoplasty to regularize possible bone defects. To ensure primary stability, it can use methods to enhance primary stability as undersized drilling technique and use of osteotomes and bi-cortical anchorage implants. There are two main protocols to obtain temporary immediate loading full-arch…

Percutaneous osteoplasty in treatment of bone lymphangiomatosis

2013

Primary bone lymphangiomatosis is a disease of unknown etiology that can cause lytic lesions in long bones, the pelvis, the spinal column and the cranium. We are presenting the case of a woman with localized bone lymphangiomatosis in the left knee. The authors believe this is the first case in which percutaneous osteoplasty was used in long bones for the treatment of bone lesions resulting from this disease showing good clinical results.

Der Oberkiefer – das schlechtere Implantatlager?

1999

In the maxilla, it is sometimes necessary to use implants to achieve a good prosthetic result. However, an increased failure rate of maxillary implants seems to be a common clinical experience. This experience was investigated in a retrospective statistical analysis. In a retrospective study of 665 patients between 1987 and 1997, 2484 implants were examined. The implants in the upper jaw were compared to those in the lower jaw. Implants with and without autogenous bone grafts and fixtures in patients with alveolar ridge atrophy, tumor, or trauma were explored. In particular, the data obtained from the orthopantomograms after completion of the prosthetic superstructures were controlled for p…

Clinical evaluation of piezoelectric ear surgery

2008

We evaluated the use of piezoelectric surgery (Piezosurgery; Mectron Medical Technology; Carasco, Genoa, Italy) as a means of avoiding some complications of osteotomy and osteoplasty in otologic surgery, particularly in classic canal-wall-up mastoidectomy. Piezoelectric surgery is a recently developed system for cutting bone with microvibrations created by the piezoelectric effect. This effect occurs when an electric current is passed through certain ceramics and crystals, causing them to oscillate at ultrasonic frequencies. Our study population was made up of 20 adults with unilateral chronic otitis media. In all patients, piezoelectric surgery allowed for effective, precise, safe, easy, …
